Re: I saw a neat truck today...
I say thanks, too.I like the truck and I think it`s original paint that`s been sanded on to prep for paint that hasn`t happened yet.The comments are on the false claims, which always raise some talk no matter what the subject. The truck was gone over about 15+ years ago is my guess. Those 454 emblems have been out that long.I wonder why the grille doesn`t fit.The shine makes me think it`s a repro that fits real bad. It`s a custom with stuf added like knobs and a pedal. The cluster is a repro or rechrome with a mylar applique kit on that, the chromed ashtray, and the chromed glovebox...no Cheyenne Super parts. The hubs are either Ford or 69/70.I wonder how it got chrome glass trim when it was a custom. On 71/72s the 4wheel drive emblem was dropped because the engine badge goes under the light where the 454 badge is.

The '69 Camaro was one of the most heavily optioned cars to ever come from Detroit.

Re: I saw a neat truck today...
thanks for the pics, id definatly drive that truck
gotta disagree on the tach being original, besides the truck having a vac gauge, the needle on tach is bright orange the needle on speedo is almost faded to white.

Re: I saw a neat truck today...
Yeah what tphsmith said, Bryan. Cool story and would be a cool truck to own even tho it has been changed "slightly"! It isn't like he was there high pressure selling it. He may have just told you what he knows about it.
Looks like you must be working for Shane! You are probably to blame for him teasing me the other day when he called me about the '72 GMC. Yeah I could use more parts but upcoming daughters graduation and wifes 50th birthday expenses are getting in the way right now. There has been a couple other teasing GMC's lately too in the paper, and I want them all. Thanks for the story and pics---DAC

Re: I saw a neat truck today...
it's a special corvette option 454 that came back in time from the 70's JUST for this truck. it only happened one time though...for the owner.

Re: I saw a neat truck today...
What a thread! My uncle worked at a large dealership in the 70's, he said they did alot of small block to big block swaps and vice versa, but he has never seen a 454 in one of these trucks. When the 454's came out in 1970 they were almost un-touchable and if the parts dept could get one there was a waiting list. He said on our trucks, they did all kinds of add ons, a/c, power steering, power brakes, tubed grilles, bumpers, trim, etc. But never one 454 in a truck.

One of them old 30's trucks would be way cool to have but yours ain't a GMC so dont sweat any thievin'! I saw that '72 GMC from the street a few days ago when I had to stop by Green Star, but I'm scared. There was a 67 GMC Camper Cruiser with a big cabover camper on it north of town last week for $700 obo last week and it ran great but the owner moved to Wyo and had to dump it fast. I was scared to go look at it too. Then there was that sweet lookin' '67 GMC 4x4 all original appearing longstep in the paper too---40,someodd thousand original miles for $5900. If that sucker was even actually close to the description, it was probably a bargain! Oh well you know how it is, havin' 'em all still ain't enuff! Later---DAC
