Re: 100% original trucks

OK Frank I need to go truck shopping in your area. That truck is amazing, along with the others you have. You don't see hardly any original trucks in that condition around here in Oklahoma.

I think part of the confusion is coming from the word Stock and the word Original. There are some trucks that are mostly stock which would cover the re-paints, and small mods. Then there are the Original trucks. I think if it's original then that means NO MODS what so ever.

Re: 100% original trucks

Here's a couple of pics of my 79 Big 10 with 53,000 original miles. Bought it from the estate of the original owner in Dallas. Extremely original throughout, paint, interior (still had plastic on the seat covers when I purchased), even the water pump is the original. Amazingly even the cruise control still works smooth.

WOW, and I thought Dad's 85 Jeep Scrambler with 3600 miles was under used.

Beautiful truck.

Pics I took of Dad's 83 GMC are here

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=322246

It is ALL original except for a Pioneer head unit I added in the early 90's, but obviously needs to be cleaned up a bit. It will remain completely stock (even the white wheels with hub caps (caps were in the bed in the pics), and now that it is on the road again it will be a slow work in progress for me until I have it cleaned up. I will have to repaint it. 26 years of parking it under a tree isn't nice to paint, but other than that, a Pioneer head unit (old knob style), and a new dash cap it will be exactly as he got it from the dealer.

Re: 100% original trucks

Thanks, 78Chevyrado:
Appreciate the feedback. I lucked out when I discovered this one. It's a true unmolested original in all respects. I put new tires on it, new exhaust, complete brake job, tuned it up and drive it on sunny days. Here's a couple more pics:

Re: 100% original trucks

650 miles? The only one that I know that has fewer miles than that is at Classic Parts (Chevy Duty) in KC. It's that black '87 swb 4x4 with 89 original miles.

Re: 100% original trucks

Paint and wheels are the only thing changed on my 78 Silverado.
I've been looking for a clean truck like this for a long time.
I stole it for $800 and drove it home. I have the trim piece, I just took it off
for the trip home since it was so loose, everything else is in tact.
These are first pics from my buddy, with it still grungy looking. (still don't have a camera)

Re: 100% original trucks

My "bare bones" ex military K30 (M1031) bought with only 6700 miles on it, fresh from Kuwait. (2 years ago, now has 9700 miles on it) Still has all the original dents and dings but totally rust free. Used as a daily driver/work truck and have since put a matching pickup box from a similar M1008 on it.

Re: 100% original trucks

So whats the story on the military chevys? Are they still in use? I see them for sale pretty often but never knew if they were legit or not.

Re: 100% original trucks

Quite a few CUCVs still in service, mostly National Guard, Park Service, Fire Departments. Places to buy them "First hand" are government liquidators, gsa, state and local government. Price and condition varies upon use. Even though my truck had only 6700 miles on it it needed a w/s, dash cover, door glass, gas tank (had been removed) and a new driveshaft (GL is great at moving them with forklifts and bending driveshafts and cracking extension housings) Otherwise pretty much like new condition, had been in Kuwait most of its life. Check out Steel Soldiers @ www.steelsoldiers.com for lots more info on these trucks and variants.
