These trucks were designed from the factory with a 'rake". It will handle better that way... honest. You might wish to talk to an alignment expert thats been around for awhile... they will back me up on this.

I like to keep the distance from the top of the tire to the fender the same front and back and use the height of the rear tire to set the rake.

I know they were designed to have a rake from the factory, but isn't that to compensate for potential load in the back? I can't imagine the rake would help the handling, all you're doing is frontloading a front-heavy vehicle a little more - but maybe they are designed to drive with a rake. I just don't know what the advantage would be if you're not driving around with a lot of weight in the back.

235/60/15's in the front and 295/50/15 in the back always looked good to me.

The tires are 275/60R15 all around. They are brand new so it will be a while before new tire sizes.

Thanks for the comparison, I guess I might try for somewhere between the two. These springs have been on for only about a month will it take them awhile to settle? Longer than the front ones? Thanks everyone for the feedback. The last thing I want is "redneck rake"!

It looks good as is, but if you did drop it more, I'd just go another 1" in the back. Its a good looking ride, whatever you do!

no joke there - my old '92 C1500 started out 3/4, one year later was a 4/6 and ended up being a 5/7 later on...

Sweet looking truck. How long have you had the springs in? I would drive it for 500-1000 miles before you change anything. This will allow the springs a chance to settle. Here's a picture of mine with 5 1/2 drop in the rear (29" tires)and 4 1/2 drop in the front (27" tires). I'll probably end up lowering it another 1" in the rear, but I'm going to drive as is for a while.

Where are you located in PCola? Do you ever make it up to BK on 9 mile on Saturdays? Maybe we can meet up.

These springs have been in for probably 500 miles so they may still settle a little. I really like the setup on your truck, I have always been a big fan of the draglites. I live just outside the back gate of Pensacola NAS. I have been up on 9 mile a few times (mostly for Harbor Freight) but I didn't know they did anything on Sat nights at the BK. I guess it is a perfect place for it as I remember there is a big parking lot there. Do they have a big turnout? I see the Naval Aviator wings on your front plate, Are you at Whiting field or Nas Pensacola?

Re: Need opinions on stance

Hey Pokey,
Love the second pic. I was going to suggest a little larger tire in the back, and the 2" block drop, but I didn't know the tire size. A little rake is always good. Not sure what my drop is, I did it really old school years ago. Probably around 4/6, running 235/60 front and 275/60 back, and get lots of positive comments on how it sits. But mine is a long box so it sits a little different. I really need to get a picture up. Didn't take any this summer, and the truck is now up on the stands and covered.

I was thinking about changing the wheels, but the draglites are starting to grow on me. I'm up at Whiting. What do you do at NASP? Depending on the weather, anywhere from 30 -50 cars show up. If you decide to go with the lowering blocks let me know, I think I have an extra set.

Heres mine with a 5/6 drop. It has 275/60/15 in the rear and 255/60/15 in th front. It sits about an inch higher in the back then the front.

If you want my opinion stick with the draglites. That is the truck with the supercharged small block isn't it? If so it has the power to back up that look. I am actually stationed at NATTC now. I am an instructor at the air traffic control school here. I am up for orders soon and I really hope to stay in the area at either Whiting or NASP. I think I might try a tad lower in the back so if you still have the blocks shoot me a price. I'll have to head up north to nine mile soon if it doesn't get to cold.

I guess it is time to put the toys away that far north. I have been to Vancouver a few times when I was stationed in Washington state. Beautiful country! It was also the only place I have been where I had to wear a coat while watching 4th of July fireworks.

Re: Need opinions on stance

Yeah, sad but true, but you don't have to rub it in. Vancouver gets milder weather than we do in the interior of BC. We are just north of the Idaho border in the Rocky Mountains. A couple of small snow dumps, but nothing has stuck, but the beast gets parked usually the end of November until March. Hmm, that is really depressing. Guess that gives me time to pick away at it.
Looking at Hart_Rods Chevy, the Drag Lites do look really good. I was considering swapping out my rallies for some Pro Stars. They really suit these styles too.
