Re: Bringing my baby back,
This is what the back looked like with the bed on. Ever since I was a kid looking at Hot Rod magazine I wanted to have a fuel cell with fuel lines coming out of the rear. I will run a bumper on it but it looks like the fuel lines will be visible.
I took the bed back off, the 5" drop leafs are going and a flip kit is on the way. I want to go forward but it seems I take a few steps back every time I go forward. But i'll end up with what I want though. Thank you 6772. |

Re: Bringing my baby back,
The flip kit came in today and I had to measure it. It's not much difference but in my eyes it's alot. I guess. The little things... I wish I had seen these pics before I started this. I hope they help someone. Not much leaf spring static drops. I'm glad DJM made the flip. I sure paid for a few pieces of metal and some U bolts though. I like how the pinion angle is adjustable with the kit. Pics of flip and my old 5" drop springs:

Re: Bringing my baby back,
And here is the flip kit with 1.5" shackle, and the 5" leaf with 1.5" shackle. With the cab and rest of the truck I hope to get another inch.

Re: Bringing my baby back,
Sandblasted! Well after trying to sandblast this thing I finally got smart and sent it out. There was too many pieces to do and ideally I can do other things easier and make money to recoup the money spent on blasting.
I got a great deal, thanks to Privette Custom fabrication in Las Cruces, Dan also cut and welded in 2 pieces of 4" pipe through the crossmember for exhaust. I got the idea from someones build on the site. I don't remember which one but thank you. Hopefully I will start the cleaning process and get the KBS coating on soon. Thank you 6772. |

Re: Bringing my baby back,
Yes, that is my flip kit that I blasted, DJM puts the grey/black spatter look in them. It looks good but I prefer to have everything match.

Re: Bringing my baby back,
Man, can this guy weld or what? It may be a tad too big but hey if I want to run dual 3" pipe someday i'll be able to. Thanks 6772.

Re: Bringing my baby back,
Progress, I finished welding the fuel cell studs and spot sanblasted the last areas that needed. This is the KBS frame coater first coat. The stuff is great. Messy but awesome. I feel better than powder coat because it will get scratched and I can touch it up. Thank you 6772.

Re: Bringing my baby back,
More KBS frame coater, I disassembled the front and rear suspension, again. This is a gloss coat and it is still wet.
I bought another quart of base coat and top coat in satin, I think I'll prefer not so shiny. I had to use up the gloss though, I didn't want to waste it. This stuff really goes a long way, 1 quart did the entire frame and all the suspension you see in the pics. All I lack is the diff. and front crossmember. What do you guys think? Thank you 6772. |
