Bringing my baby back,

Finally I have a build thread this is my baby, I sarted this about 7 years ago and i'm going to finish what I started, the truck is complete, in a few hundred pieces. The cab is being repaired and i'm going to sandblast the frame soon. The bed is in my garage and I may try to repair the floor where it has rusted through. I do have a L92 Escalade motor for it, the ece mounts are on the way and I hope to have a 4L60E soon to mock it up.

I do wish I had an A/C dash before the cab gets painted but we'll see if one shows up. It is a leaf spring truck and from what I have read coils seem to be
better. I'll be able to work on the suspension later.

Re: Bringing my baby back,

Well between work, football, and relaxing I had a chance to go get my frame and mock up my L92/4L60E. My ece mounts came in and I knew they would
fit but I wanted to see it. As I expected the exhaust manifolds hit the frame. No big deal, another reason to save up for the D. Thorleys.

I know it's dirty but it is coming back apart for c notch and powder coat on
frame. Ece has great mounts, a little pricey but super nice, I especially like
the fit of the oil pan, I can snap more pics if anyone wants to see.

98 FBody manifolds work with no frame modifications. Does your pan hang below the crossmember? A CTsV pan works great.

You got an extra CTSV oil pan?-Hart Rod? Or do you know where I can find one inexpensive?

Unfortunately not. I bought mine from the dealership. You can find them online occassionly, ebay or craigslist. Just don't buy a Camaro Fbody pan, it won't work. Here's a thread with a good discussion on the different pans:

Re: Bringing my baby back,

Here is a little progress on the cab. As you can see I lifted the cab the wrong way and bent the inner rear corners, the body man is fixing that as well and rockers are going on soon. These are phone pics so they may not be great.

I ordered a cpp c-notch from cpp ebay. There are good deals on returns from suppliers that they cant sell as new. The ece crossmember (trans) is here and a poly mount is on it's way. Thank you 6772.

Re: Bringing my baby back,

Finally, a little progress, I have my cab back, i'm putting it aside so I can do my frame, right now there is a 71 shortbed frame, a bed, a cab, and an Impala in my oversized 2 car garage. Anyways here is some progress on my c-notch. I am amazed at the suspension modifications on other trucks here but all of that is way out of my budget. The notch is a cpp ebay special, it looked new to me when I got it. Also tools to help the installation. I'm gonna bolt it in and the Corvette frame welding specialist at work is gonna burn it in for me later. It's probably overkill but this is my baby.

Re: Bringing my baby back,

Nice build so far, keep the pics coming. I know the feeling about the tight working space and just got permission to bring some of my parts inside.

Keep up the great work.

Re: Bringing my baby back,

I had the c-notch burned in yesterday, looks good to me it should be plenty strong. I scratched the idea of powdercoating the frame. It will save me time and money. There is a chassis coater kit from KBS coatings on the way which I will post pics of later. I need to finish sandblasting though. Now that is quite a job.

Re: Bringing my baby back,

Great work!..Are you rewiring the harness yourself for stand alone or are you buying a new one? Who will be reprograming your PCM?

Re: Bringing my baby back,

Hey Puropedo, my options are still open on harness/pcm. I have been talking to Sand and Street wiring in Phoenix. I believe I will need to run 2 modules, ecm and tcm. When I get closer to getting it running i'll decide where I will get harness. Right now I don't have a harness. I need to put my motor together also. If I have enough I want to put the LS hot cam in it which should be good for 480 hp.

Re: Bringing my baby back,

I decided on the 15 gallon Summit tank, I used the ece rear crossmember to give me more room. It may be able to go a little higher but I think i'll be ok there. I used 7/16" threaded rod with some metal tubing I found at work to set the height. I'll probably just build a flip door in the bed. The truck will never haul anything anyways. I have my longbed for work.

Sandblasting is a total pain, i'm not finished yet. I am seriously itching to find out where my fuel pumps are going so I can order the Russell Proclassic hoses and AN fittings. I am going black with silver. I will clean up the tank nicely before final install. Thank you 6772.

Re: Bringing my baby back,

Subscribed. I'm getting ready to start my trucks next build phase, and although I didn't get the big 6.2L L92 like you got....I did get a new LY6 6.0L (basically a LQ4 hybrid with L92 heads and VVT) to drop in my old frame. Like you I'm sure, I can't wait to here it run!
