Oldchev, what does the old style 205 mount look like? This combo has a mount cast into the bottom of the adapter, but no tapped holes on the side of the t-case. The tag on the case says it's a 78, but appearantly, no provisions for the torgue mount like that used on a 78. Red450ih says the torgue mount was not used on the 465/205 combo, is this the same situation you have? I don't know what the old style 205 mount should look like as I am using this setup to replace a Rockwell t-case. I'm sure it will all make sense once I pull the old setup out and go to put this unit in.
Thanks

Good find. I've been looking for that exact combo for awhile. If anybody within a couple of hundred miles of Wisconsin knows where I can purchase this setup let me know. Dave/zoomy (920)484-3899

Pont,
I have the crossmember mount the same as your combo. My original torque mount on my 205/465 combo has a big angle bracket bolted to the case with the 5/8-11 bolts that i talked about earler. The bracket goes up above the lower frame rail. The lower frame rail is drilled.( 2 holes) Above this bracket are rubber bushings.( 2 bushings) Above the rubber bushings is another smaller angle bracket. The smaller angle bracket is bolted through the side of the frame. (2) 3/8-16 x 1" long. Below the big angle bracket is 2 more rubber bushings. And i think below that is a small flat plate. The hole mess is bolted to the lower frame rail with a 1/2-13 x 3 1/2 long bolt (2)... I think thats the correct stacking. I never figured out how to post a picture so i cant post one. I hope this info helps. Randy

Thanks Randy, good info. Would you have any idea why my 205 t-case is not drilled and tapped for the torque mount? I wonder how it was supported? Or was it just left to hang there putting full support on the adapter? I'm confused now, I think I need an asprin

I have no idea why it dosent have one. It must be a 1978 thing. I think its a good idea to put one on. Just for assurance. Hell, you could probly make one out of angle iron and hockey pucks!!

You don't want to go without the torque mount unless you want to increase your risk of cracking your adapter. The torque mount is the same on the Rockwell and the 205. Here are the pics that I promised you...

My old buddy Breeh, thanks for the pics and the info regarding the Rockwell and 205 torque mount being the same. This should make my swap go smoother. Thanks again....................
