Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

do you have a title for your spare frame?

that could be a super nice truck with minimal work, if you can control the snowball effect

Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

$800 with a salvaged title already and no tires and wheels as in the first pic i would say pass. Some good stuff there but really pushing it at that price here in my neck of the woods. Salvaged title kills it for me unless you never sell it or turn it into serious trail rig

Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

I know what you mean about snowballing out of control. I pulled my 87 in the shop to do a brake job and new drive shaft U-joints and it looks like this now. I have a Donner 86 and not sure yet it it will be an 86 or an 87, 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton and so on. But I am having fun. Note: The wagon running gear is a nice way to move around a truck in process.
I think if you like messing with the truck $800 is a fair price.

I think I would go up to 1200.00 on it if I wanted it. we all know the parts are worth more than that. Nice find.

Wow! Hope that kid was okay after the accident. Then if he was fine I hope that kid got a beating. Not a spanking but a straight up no holds barred punches/kicks to every conceivable location on his body beating.

He will take the $800, just told him I wanted the weekend to think on it...

And yeah the kid was fine... he had his seatbelt on. The truck was actually his older brothers truck and from what I was told.....he wanted to kill his younger brother haha..

Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

If you are going to keep it for a while and enjoy it then the salvage title and $800 would be a fair price.

If you are planning on turning it for a profit there won't be much profit there after all the work & parts you will have to put into it and the salvage title takes its effect on the resale value.

Do you have a title that goes with the frame you have? We swapped out cabs all the time when I worked at a place that rebuilt insurance wrecks. It could be as easy as having it reinspected by the state patrol and a state installed VIN tag put on the new cab that matches your frame VIN. Then it has a clean title if the frame has a clean title. My state went by the frame VIN to determine what the truck was titled with and not the cab, maybe yours does too. As long as you have a bill of sale for all the parts put into the vehicle then it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

I just cant see where you can go wrong on that for $800. I wouldnt let it sit over the weekend because I have gone back to get trucks before only to find that someone else bought it . The bed alone would bring $600 plus. Thats a great deal in my opinion . You also have to take location into consideration . I dont think it would be worth as much on the west coast or Arizona, but on the east coast and up north , Money! By the way , That color is beautiful when it is shining . I just got Bigarmzz red truck last night and love the color.

Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

I have to agree that the bed would almost be worth the total purchase price, but I come from the rust belt when rust free beds are at a premium....

That's B.S. Why does it always seem most (not all) of the people at least I deal with on C.L. are either total flakes or untrustworthy people? Sorry man that sucks.

damn that sucks. I hate when I hear things like that. Some people just do not have any respect to wait and see how a transaction will end up. The seller should have said he was in the process of selling it to you, but would take the # of any other interested parties in case it fell threw with you.

Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

no biggie, I know better.. I usually bring a trailer anytime I go look just in case but my dad had the car trailer this weekend. I figure I have gotten so many good deals on vehicles and have alot of projects now, its time someone else gets a good deal too. I just hope its fixed and not parted.

Sorry to hear about someone beating you to the truck, hope it wasn't a board member $800 was about right for that truck. I could see it going for closer to $1000 with a clean title. The VIN stays with the cab here too, body shops used to change frames all the time here back in the day too. I think they had to be inspected at the state inspection station though. Sorry you missed out, but from the length of your sig, you have plenty to keep you busy.

Man, you guys are being hard on dude who sold the truck. Cash in hand beats "I don't know, let me think about it" every time. I don't know who does it differently.

Re: wrecked 86 short bed.. what do you think

I'm with hatt....

Unless he left a deposit or specifically stated he wanted it, yall are being to hard on the seller. How much stuff have you tried to sell on CL and how many people told you they were coming back for it, never to be seen again? My thoughts are the seller assumed he was never coming back and sold it to the first guy with cash. That always talks the loudest and I would have done the same.

Now if spudz had left me only $20 saying he had to go to the bank monday, then I would have held it for him till tuesday at the latest unless I could contact him. Otherwise to me he would have been another tire kicker.....

No offense spudz, I know you feel bad enough missing out on it already. I saw it on CL, but I didnt buy it as I have to many projects now....
