Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

I have got the motor & trans seperated for yet another, prep and paint marathon.

All the smog crap is coming off that motor.
I picked up these off flea-bay to replace the CPU stuff.

A new Edie. (on the cheap, of course)

A NOS Holley... (super cheep)

Well, the flu is starting to make me dizzy again so, off to bed I go...

Or maybe it's the Nyquil...

It looks real solid. Is there much rust to fix? What happened to all the long bed truck stuff?

That would be the one I am looking for, the old style.
Are you using it for yours?

Thanks for the encouragement...

It has some rust in all the normal places it gets on these trucks, but not that bad.

I'll deal with the replacement patches later on.
I live in a huge residential community that is basically, HOA hell.

I am focusing on the up & running part and fix it as I go...
I wanna' drive this girl sooner rather than later.

The long bed truck carcass is a long story.
I stripped it of all she was worth & left the remains there.
It found a new home about a week later.

Welcome from Spring! The build is looking really good and glad to see another truck pulled from a barn to be saved. Love to see the truck running the streets around here. I'm right off of Riley Fuzzel in the Spring Trails Sub. HOA hell also!

I took the day off to go look around, but it will have to be a really good deal if I buy something, cuz' the van tapped the truck fund.

Thanks & I am always looking for guidance & encouragement as I sometimes ask myself, "What have I done to myself?"

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

Well, it's been a while since I have posted here so let me see if I still know how.

I did a little work on the rear frame cross brace.
It seems as if farmer Brown was pulling tree stumps out with it.
I got another one to replace it.

I put it in the truck and am researching what way to go with a fuel tank.

I also stripped the "van" of all she was worth...
She seemed so lonely...

She gave me lip, so I loaded her up and took her to the crusher.

With everything of worth out of it, she still crossed the scales @ 3500lbs.

I finally got around to putting the booster/master cylinder on the truck.

I guess I felt motivated to do so cuz' my SS brake lines will be here this week.
I needed something to hook them up to, so why not, right?

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

I found a few new things @ swap meets, flea markets, and good friends donations.

It is all just the process of creating your own personalized junk yard...

I picked up a couple of "dirty hookers."

Since I paid for them, I had them strip...

After I was finished with them, I cleaned them up & gave them a new life.

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

I had to strip about a half mile of wires off of the smog controlled motor that I had no use for with the CPU free build that I am doing...

She was a little dirty on the outside, but as I would find out later.
Extremely clean on the inside...

I was very happy to see how clean she was on the inside.
(I only cleaned the gasket area and nothing else)

The previous owner of the van was over for a Christmas dinner with us.
I asked, "Would you like to come and see the work I've gotten done on the van motor?" I said, "I still have some work to do, but it's getting close."

He didn't believe me...
