Yep that looks like a shortened frame. Sorry to hear about it. I would try and reinforce it as much as i could but i like overdoing things so i know they wont break when i beat the crap out of them

. There was a build thread a while back and the way the guy shortened his frame was a really cool an unique idea, and i dont thing it woulda ever broke. I wish i knew what it was called...

It's not pretty, but it will work. your truck is not going to break in half. I would'nt bother drilling any holes in it. these frames have enough holes already. If anything I would join the bottom flanges.

Im curious about the buying of this truck? Have you spoken to the p.o.? I giess nothing was said about it being a shortened frame?

The PO did not mention anything. My fault anyway...I looked under the truck before I bought it and didn't even notice. Guess I was too focused on looking for rust. I was a little down about it yesterday but am over it. I love the truck and based on the info everyone's shared I don't think it's going to break in half any time soon. I'll reinstall the mounts correctly and reinforce the splice for peace of mind but other than that.....time to install the new suspension kit from CPP! Happy New Year and thanks again for all the helpful comments, insight, etc.

I agree!!! Nothing wrong with it and it will do just fine.

I had a 69 chevy 4x4 that had been done in the same manner. The truck had a hard life and the welds never cracked or broke. A guy that remembered the truck being cut down, said the frame was staggered on purpose to give a better weld than trying to weld it flush.I never put the truck on the road but if I had the plan was to plate it for my piece of mind.

I honestly cant see it breaking, i would be bummed to if i found out somebody did that and didnt tell me. If the welds are good id maybe looking are reinforcing them and just be on your way. Its a great looking truck by the way.
