Re: Grandpa's old truck found and bought

Very cool. I missed out on buying back the first new truck my grandpa ever bought, a 54 GMC. It sat in our hometown for years and one day it was gone, haven't seen it since but I'm still looking.

Re: Grandpa's old truck found and bought

Cool story, glad it's back in the family. I also have my 67 that my great grandfather bought new in 67, lots of good memories in that truck, can't wait to be riding around, with his memory riding shotgun with an old picture of me and him on the dash

South East of Des Moines about 45 miles.

I didn't make the Power Tour last year, but I did drive it to Bonneville and I was at Des Moines GG with it.

Great plan, I wish I could find some old pictures of it when Grandpa owned it. I may have to talk to Grandma about that.

Re: Grandpa's old truck found and bought

Very cool!
Had the same thing happen to me with my gramp's 71 all blue Cheyenne Super
He bought new, but have never found it.
He traded his in for a new 76 and the truck wass sold to a local couple around Hartville, MO where I watched it until I turned of age.
I went to the couple's house to buy it back with my grandma and they had just sold it a month earlier after having it for 7 years.
Last known location of the person they sold it to was Mtn. grove, MO around 1983 if anyone out there happens to see one!
Congrats, now enjoy!
Tim

Yes, we camped, probably do it again this year.

Plan to have to have Grandpa's truck and the burb there. The 'burb might be for sale. That was kind of the deal to be able to buy Grandpa's old truck.

The rockers and cab corners are rusty. Probably leave that for a while.

It needs a seat cover. I want to change out the mirrors and rear bumper. It might get the slots from my 'burb.

My son (he's 7) and I might make it a project in a few years.

I think I remember your burb there. I will find you this year and introduce myself. I had a yellow vw beetle there last year. We were near the entrance.

I asked Grandma. She didn't know of any. Not something they probably did back then.

Ony chance of seeing it is in the background of some pictures of the grandkids.

Are you coming to GG DSM this year? I'll have a burb for you to drive.

No, I don't think we'll be able to make it. With two other trips planned this year won't be able to afford a third.
