Grandpa's old truck found and bought
Grandpa bought this truck in 1975 in Oklahoma. He like to get his cars and trucks down there outside of the Iowa rust belt. This truck had a lot of influence why I am into '72's. I used to ride around in it with my dad and grandfather going places like the farm, an auction, or to get building materials.
Grandpa sold it shortly after I turned 16 I wanted to by it then, but couldn't. That was spring of '89 I think. The owner of a local body shop bought and totaly redid the truck. He did an excelent job. He used it to pull his enclosed trailer with his motorcycle he drag raced. He had it for sale around 2003. I tried to by it then but didn't work out then either. I recently saw it on craigslist, located about 3 hours from here. I couldn't believe it looked like the same truck. After talking to person on the phone, it was confirmed that is was indeed the one. It had change hand about 3 times since grandpa sold it. So I went down, made the deal and took it home. I did share the story with him as well, after the deal was struck. He thought it was pretty cool and happy to see it was going to good home. I plan to drive semi-daily. The winters around here prevent it from being a true daily drive. But I still want to be able to use it and care for it. |

Re: Grandpa's old truck found and bought
cool story and good job tracking down your grandfathers old truck! I got the classic truck bug when my dad drug home a 69 1 ton that was in parts and we put it back together. that was in the early '80s. Now I have 2 classic Vans and 1 classic burb.
by the way witch part on Iowa are you in? I am originally from Clayton County near Monona before I got tired of the cold and moved to Washington! LOL

Re: Grandpa's old truck found and bought
I should note Grandpa passed away about five years ago. We were pretty close, so this is a great reminder of him.
