Re: 1966 LWB Truck 1
The white cap is growing on me......I kinda thought i would give it a try that way and if i didn't like it i would just make changes.....it's only paint...I got the engine back in it the bed buttoned up and a bunch of other work to it....but I jumped back and forth on a few other projects..... Then i was thinking I pull the engine back out, and drop my spare 383 crossram in in for a couple of weeks to do a break in and incase i wanna take it goodguy's in spokane later this month. It would be a messed up look...original inside right down to the 4 speed and then a 500 Hp crossram set up....

Re: 1966 LWB Truck 1
Put a gear vendors overdrive behind that 4 spd and you'll have a 6 speed close ratio box....

Re: 1966 LWB Truck 1
Dude...
This isn't my first rodeo....lol....I made a living from the sleeper look when I was a kid...those old white walls i ran were a license to win races... I have a short box in primer I will put the 383 and a built turbo 400 in for my parts picker truck with some mini tubs.. But it's not like i could power shift that original 4 speed like the one in my 69 camaro....chuckles

Re: 1966 LWB Truck 1
I think you would be suprised at how clean the sm 420 will shift with the shifter rebuilt and a electronic shift switch for mid gears using a gear vendors unit.
It's a truck after all. A buddy of mine has a gear vendors unit on the back of a th400 and what a rocket it is now...

Re: 1966 LWB Truck 1
I had built this oak kit last year and ran it in the truck a year or so .....while it was pulled out I sanded it all and stained it but didn't clear over it. This is a outdoor truck it's going to see some rain

Rear wood .....I sanded down all the old oak and went a differnt route this time. I stained it with a deck stain instead of a gel stain and varathane

Re: 1966 LWB Truck 1
I should have taken way more pictures during this build, this is my favorite build i have done to this point. It drives awsome...2.5" drop spindles and 3" drop coils in the front and 5" drop coils it the back....it has new nitro shocks all the way around it. I did all the upper and lower ball joints, the works. So far i have left the 283 and 4 speed in it because it drives like brand new....lol...Took it out the other night to it's first drop in cruise night and well...that thing with 90,000 original miles on it grabbed 4th gear rubber. The only engine add ons i have done are a new HEI and 2.5" dual exhaust ..which sounds awesome. Don't get me wrong it's not fast, but it's so sweet to drive. When i get a chance i will take some more pictures of the new seat and the rest of the truck

Also, I forgot why I even ended up in this thread. It was your post in the blue and white thread. I really really like your blue.
What is the paint and color code, if I may ask? Thanks, Robert Posted via Mobile Device
