Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
I knew a guy in Alaska that did a truck something like that.. His last name was bhueler. He cut a long bed out to shorten it.

Framing in new bed floor out of 1x1 steel. Made an access hatch for the airride system and battery.

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
Took the plunge and cut the front crossmember! So happy that my truck now sits level. I dropped the front an additional 2.5".

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
Yes it would go lower, but I have to stop somewhere and would like to be able to drive home if I blow an airline or airbag.

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
Love your progress bro. quick question- I know you don't want to, but what does it take to lay frame with this truck? I have a '68 frame under my truck. do you need a Z or drop member? or can it lay with stock xmember setup? what did you cut on your xmember exactly?

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
I Sunk the frame rails into the crossmember 2.5" would have to ask someone who went lower how they did it. Probably have to get lowered xmember , I am not a fan of zing. The rear is simple, just add lower block to get on ground, with notch and shock relocate of course. Oh, and cutting bed floor and everything else.

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
yeah the rear I'm not too worried about. I think i'll end up going dropmember on the front. just looking to save $$ if possible lol

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
yup I know how that is. that's why I'm thinking of going KP links for the rear. just toying around with the front. my last truck had about $4-5k in suspension parts so it is what it is, you get your monies worth!

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
My frame is 4" from the floor, but the body is much closer. I do only have 17" rims though, so I guess if you wanted to be low with big wheels you would need the rear drop member? How close to the ground does the frame have to be to consider it laying frame??? my truck body is in the way. I am laying mufflers as they sit on the ground when parked.
