Re: hood question

Thanks KMFB. I think my hood must be an earlier year cause it seems to go down farther and it doesn't have that horizontal ridge that yours has

Re: hood question

Thanks ymerej. I must have a 75-77 hood. Maybe I can replace the rusted out metal and try and fiberglass the ridge all the way down the front

Re: hood question

A little Assitance here fellas. I just did a 86 to 76 front end conversion.. I know there's a piece missing here but I don't know what it's called or where I would find this part. It's the piece that attaches to the hood latch that actually locks the hood in place. I also included a pic of under the hood so you guys can tell me if there's another piece needed to complete this job

Thanks
Slim

Re: hood question

Hi Slim,

Looks like you need the hood latch bolt ... it's basically just a bolt with a special cone shaped head. You'll also need a jam nut to lock it into place.

LMC lists the bolt as part number 30-0310 and their illustration appears as though it might come with the jam nut. Or if you want to go junkyard hunting, I think the same hood latch bolt was used on GM trucks from around 67 to 80 (except for the 77-80 trucks that had the optional inside hood release).

Thanks ray... I see it in the catalog I have at home. Do I also need that hood release assembly 30-1574?

I don't think it was 79. My 78 Scottsdale 10 has the later hood with the raised lip design (with in-cab release option) and it is original to the truck. My uncle factory ordered the truck and picked it up at a dealer in Detroit, drove home to Massachusetts and then to California in 83. Dad bought it off him in 86. Still have all the factory papers, etc. A real family vehicle!
Now she awaits restoration........

No, you don't need the #30-1574 release assembly. That's only for trucks with the optional inside hood release.
