Re: hood question

They are referring to the design on the front of the hood on 73-76 (pic#1) the center bar or ridge of the hood goes all the way down to the grill on 77-80 (pic #2) the center bar ends and turns into a raised section across the entire front most portion of the hood

I may have been wrong. I think they started that hood design in 79 to go with new headlight bezel design. Used them on 1980 trucks too.

Re: hood question

The brochure states '77 but it actually started in '79. '73-'78 hoods look similar from the outside but have a difference or two. One is the hole in the hood for internal hood release . I think that started in '77. The hoods are the same from '73-'76. The '77-'78 hoods look identical on the outside but have a different hole configuration for the hood latch assemblies because the internal release was an option. '79-'80 hoods have the raised lip design and the internal release hole .

Re: hood question

Losen the hood hinge and lower them losen it on the fender and push it down losen it so its still stiff but if you hit it with your palm is will move and close the hood with them lose and tap it doqwn and then open it and tighten once its where you want it

Re: hood question

Can someone get a closer pic of that ridge in the middle of the hood? I'm repairing my hood and the one spot that has rust is right in the front of the hood. I can't tell if the ridge goes completely down or not. Hopefully it doesn't cause I'm going to replace the rust with some metal and if that ridge goes completely down I wouldn't know how to duplicate that ridge...

Thanks
Slim

Re: hood question

That definitely helped... Thanks. I have no clue how I'm going to duplicate that ridge. I might have to start searching for another hood now
