what do you mean go through AAA? like the road side assistance AAA?

and what im really asking here is if the registration is expired but its transferable can i still get a title...or does the registration need to be up to date in order for me to claim new ownership?

AAA in some states have registration services. We have it here in Calif so I don't have to go stand with the great unwashed masses at the DMV to get my cars registered, nor put up with the pi$$ poor attitude of the people behind the counter at the DMV.

You will need to talk to someone who knows CO registration laws to answer that.
