Yeah, that is definitely the defining option on that truck.

Re: Is this '96 Silverado rare?

looks really clean, and yes it's really hard to find a reg cab short box with the vortec 5.7 auto, power everything in good condition that's why I jump on my obs when I saw it for sale and backed out the day before when I was going to sell it, plus mine was the mark III conversion so it had other stuff put in it that makes it more rare. On the inside it's still the same but on the outside I did took off the running boards/wheels/decals lol

Re: Is this '96 Silverado rare?

Had to revisit this thread. Yes, I still have the truck. Is about to roll 185K now. Pretty much left it alone other than tint, MagnaFlow high-flow cats, 40-series Flowmaster dumped, replace radio and door speakers. Also did the injector conversion. Still blowing 39 degrees out the A/C vents! When I put 4 new Michelins on last summer, I had the front end alignment checked...it was perfect and had NEVER been aligned! The "knock-outs" were still there! I snap a pic in a bit.

Re: Is this '96 Silverado rare?

Nice looking truck. That said, when I was in my prime (graduated high school in 94) EVERYBODY had a SWB Z71 with a 350 and leather seats. I guess the few 2wd's around here I don't remember seeing leather. Everybody around here farmed and hunted and leather was a lot easier to clean up. I remember a half dozen guys around here having that set-up in the mid-late 90's. Then we all grew up a little bit and they started getting extended cabs.

I, of course, was crusing in my CJ's.

What is the injector conversion entail? Thinking it might be time to do my 97 350 Vortec with 120K.

Re: Is this '96 Silverado rare?

That's a cool find. Glad to hear you still have it. The biggest mystery to me would be how the leather remained so nice after 154k! My '97 Tahoe only had 71k when I bought it, & the driver's seat has visible wear on the butt/thigh portion nearest the door. Of course this is common because of folks sliding in/out.

Re: Is this '96 Silverado rare?

I know it was 4 years ago but I'm curious what you paid for it.
