Is this '96 Silverado rare? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have found a '96 SWB that is 98% perfect and factory. It has the 5.7L 350, 3.73 gears, leather seats, auto dimming mirror, HD tranny cooler, aux power outlets, etc...kinda equipped like a 'Burb. This thing is NICE!! Window sticker is in glove box and listed for about $22,600.

Any ideas?? I haven't seen any running around like this.

I'll try and post a couple of pics soon.

I think the onlly thing rare about it would be the leather seats. all of the other options are pretty common on silverado trim trucks

Yeah, it's rare to see the leather in a single cab swb. I'd roll that truck all day -- very nice!!

Around here you never really saw that many shortbed regular cabs in this body and to have one all loaded up like that would be very rare around here. I'm sure it depends on the area but,no matter where you are,that truck with those options in that condition is a great find and somewhat uncommon.

It's hard enough to find a regular cab with a 350, much less one with leather and all the other goodies. Very sweet find!

exactly !! ive never seen another 96 Z71 4x4 short bed reg cab 5.7 auto fully loaded since selling mine...

thats a sweet truck ... exaclty what i would want to buy if i had the chance/cash....

everyone around here has a dam,n 4.3..lol I lucked up and found 2 2500 chyannes with 350's 1 4wd and 1 2wd for about 1500 each.

At one time there was no such thing as a rare shortbox c-10 either

Although this truck may not be "rare" it is definately uncommon, and I would be happy to have it in my fleet

Wow super clean and I can't believe it has leather haven't seen that before. Don't know how rare it is but finding one that nice and clean will probably never happen again!

scotts62 is right...i know '96 SWBs are not uncommon, but it's the factory installed options that are. Plus the fact that this truck is as clean as it is. Am going to probably purchase this thing tomorrow...will post more pics as time allows!!

There is a great website for VIN Decoding and RPO Info. It actually will state "Rarity" based on the RPO's. I will link site tomorrow from my office computer. I am sure there are other sites, but this one is fantastic. With your VIN number, you will know how rare it is. Only 8 trucks are equipped like mine and it is not that special, but only 8 share "DNA". I bet this little short wide is super rare when looking at options, condition and mileage. If it was a 4x4, I would be all over it

See, I don't like that site because it makes everyone think their truck is rare. There were so many different colors, trim levels and options on these trucks that the odds are that there aren't very many out there that were equipped and optioned just like the one you're driving.

Well...i now own the truck! More pics as time allows. I did the search just for fun...it showed that only TWO shared the exact DNA. Other than that, the lowest number was the factory leather...962 vehicles shared that option.
