The trucks looks and sounds good...I'd go for it. If mechanically it's good, the rest of the stuff can be fixed as ya go. Sometimes the little stuff is a PITA but you get thru it all and enjoy the simplicity of the these trucks.

Re: Looking At A 1965...Opinions?

Hopefully I will...although i just got back from looking at it again, just wish everyone was as honest as he is. I drove it again, no misses, trans shifts smooth, although it idles fine in neutral, but the throttle needs to be feathered once in gear so as not to stall, which it did. He also informed me that they did a compression test, the front 4 cylinders tested at around 40lbs, the back 4 were 120lbs. Now I'm far from an expert, but I don't think I've run into 4 cylinders loose that kind of compression evenly. Gonna have to dig a little deeper, may have to walk and keep on looking. I'll keep you posted.

The more I look at them, the better I like them....great design.

Charlie Dominici, Kevin Moore.....although I always have liked Labrie and Rudess is borderline genius. First song I heard was Pull Me Under, probably the ONLY one that actually got any radio play!

Re: Looking At A 1965...Opinions?

Sounds like maybe you should consider what it's worth to you as a truck that needs the engine rebuilt. For me, rebuilding the engine wouldn't scare me away, but I would want to pay accordingly. Sounding closer to $3000.

Re: Looking At A 1965...Opinions?

He was at $6K? that was way high, IMO. Lots of peeps think they put in 5K and they can get 6K or more, as most here know, you put money in vehicles and you rarely get it out. Since it runs and drives, has a bit of a performance motor in it, little rust and shortbed, $4K is fair, would be great at $3500 though. How long has he had it for sale and why is he selling?

He's had it for sometime, still not clear the reason for the sale....I've asked him and it sounds like he just wants to be done with it. I found out that the cylinder readings are somewhat bogus. The pressure needs to be at least 90lbs. to run, so the motor may be just fine....I offered him 3k this morning, didn't like that too much. I'll talk to him again tonight....to be continued!

Congratulations! That was the number I liked. I think you made a good deal and if the engine turns out to be ok, you made an awesome deal.

Pick it up and drive it for at least a month before you lay a wrench on it. You may find it suits your needs as is. Or, you may be in a hurry to make a mod that does not fit with your long range goals.

Re: Looking At A 1965...Opinions?

Well.....now the rest of the story. I'm informed yesterday that the valves are all out of adjustment by the seller, so by now the little voice is going off like a siren. Everytime we come close to signing the title..I get a new story, starting to think this guy is having sellers remorse.....so I gave him an out, he took it. Guess it wasn't meant to be. Bottom line is he really didn't want to sell it, or at least for 3k....don't blame him, I wouldn't want to sell it for that either! So the search continues, found one to look at tomorrow. I love classic Chevy trucks, it's not a matter of if...just when. Thanks again for all the help, this is a great forum that I will remain a part of....great members and info.

I hear ya.....maybe it's the area, but the ones for sale are complete junk. I wouldn't mind getting every penny I put in a vehicle either. Starting to look at other years, looked at this one today....1973.
