Stupid foam, or tar, or caulking dumped in the cab corners so moisture will never dry out, and to ensure the cab corners become completely shot.

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

won't say i hate, but i extremely dislike

1) cut original radio hole bigger to fit newer radio (not bad tho)
2) poorly filled the holes in the bed for factory back-up lights, so when the light hits it right you see the outline
3) holes cut into dash for 2 aftermarket gauges
4) used Gorilla Glue to reattach the cab/door weatherstripping on the passenger side

that's all i know of for now, which is relatively minor compared to some others

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

Lets see. The PO of my K10 but about a million holes in the dash for toggle switches. He must've thought it was an airplane... He also pulled the transfer case and put in a tandem axle with carrier bearing. The carrier bearing was held up with ropes and hangar wires...

That's all I can think of right now. But I know I've cursed them many other times!

Po also rigged some "helper" leaf springs on the back, not quite as nice as the factory ones.
I have that same hole in the lh side of my cab. The prior owner said it was for a spotlight, the same thing but the spotlight is missing, i bought my truck from the original owner grandson at it was a massey furgeson shop truck.

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

My PO put a floor shifter in for a manual trans which is fine, but he put it in the wrong place, so instead of patching it and trying again he just elongated it. So there's a hole about 6" wide by 18" long in the trans tunnel. Guess he was WAY off.

Going thru all the trouble to have the truck sand blasted, perfectly block sanded and painted laser straight, but skimp on the metal prep just to have the paint crack on the left side of the bed and right front fender.

Doing actually a great job fiberglass patching the floor by the rocker panels. It's actually un-noticable when you see it from the top or bottom. He went thru all the trouble and could have welded instead.

He sold every single part off the truck for some unknown reason so it was just a shell leftover.

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

thanks for:

cutting the dash to install a POS radio
using a wood 2X4 to mount the floor shifter
using a foil gum wrapper around a blown fuse instead of changing the fuse
using wire nuts in the engine bay and under the dash on wires
breaking 10 of the 24 wheel studs off
shimming the drivers side window with toothpicks
not installing a cotter pin the the brake pedal clevis
stripping out 2 of the 3 bolts for mounting the steering wheel
using a cereal box for a gasket
buying the cheapest tires ever.... i had a blowout on the way home
fabricating some sweet rear swing perches
lowering the front end by "stepping" the lower control arms

i know there is more i cant remember, i wish i took more pics!

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

From the multiple project cars over the years.

How about a 350 that had one valve cover where EVERY BOLT was broken off in the head. So what did the guy do? He used some kind of EPOXY to seal the valve cover to the head. And it still seeped.

Or another small block with a pretty normal intake oil leak. Did he pull the intake and replace the gasket? Of course not. He took RTV and forced it into the gap. Of course that stuff was all through the engine.

How about a PO cutting the exhaust off close to where it connects to the manifold. Then using something that looked to be a combination of duct tape and jb weld to try and put it back together?

Mismatch length shocks on the front of a car. (yes I’m serious).

How about a PO cutting the fuse box out of a Chevelle. I said CUTTING. The entire bundle of wires where it exited the fuse box. Then “reinstalling” by simply twisting the cut wires together and taping them with electrical tape. And this was in a car that the guy had paid a body shop to totally strip, replace rusted sheetmetal and do the body work. I know the shop, he paid GOOD money for this. Then what did he do? He RATTLE CANNED the paint job on.

I'm not a body man either which is why I bought the truck I did since the body work looked done. I knew about the floorboards with some rust by the rocker panels and the hole in the floor. There are some cracks in the paint on the front fender and left rear bed side. I don't know what causes it other than there is some rust forming under the paint, or there was some contamination on the sheetmetal before the paint was applied. Really ticks me off. There doesn't seem to be any dents that were fileld in with bondo, so I don't think that's the problem. After stripping the inside of the fenders I found where they pushed bondo thru a couple small holes at the bottom. So it looks like my truck may fall apart in a few years and will need to be redone at that time. I guess I'll be learning how to do bodywork.

I got to hear some of that when I bought back my 65. The fella asked if I was the idiot who cut the gigantic hole in the firewall and then threw some sheetmetal over the hole. Nope! wasn't me. Fortunately I have a donor cab to fix it.

The other thing was my 65 was now on a 62 frame. That was me. . However, I was like 19 and a friend had a 62, and the price was right. I wrecked my 65 longbed, and built a Short Stepside with what I could find before there was the internet.

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

I had one 76 C10 yrs ago-350 engine smoked like crazy-all the ring gaps were lined up perfectly, skirts were off 3 pistons(and not in the pan), had a big valve head on one side, small valves on the other.

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

Reading all of this makes me appreciate my one owner unmolested truck even more. The PO bought it new, drove it for about ten years and then parked it. Everything was siezed up pretty solid but was original paint, and unmolested...... Wait, He did install those hideous dual saddle tanks and cut holes in the side of the bed for the doors. That is about all I can gripe about.

If the proper prep is done on the metal, then painted with epoxy; good.
But that's not what these numbskulls do. They squirt it in there between dirty unprep'd metal cavities, and now moisture is held up against the unprotected metal. I've even read in these forums of guys saying they use the stuff that doesn't absorb moisture. But that still doesn't work. I pulled that great dry foam stuff out of my cab corners. The foam stuff was nice and dry inside, and still holding moisture from condensation against the metal.
