Wink Re: Who makes a GOOD hood hinge??

Have you found the rivets? I have 2 old sets and both need all the rivets replaced for sure. If u have a source please LMK.

Yes I have the last set I just replaced. They are painted.

Not much differance except they wouldn't hold the hood down in back.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Who makes a GOOD hood hinge??

I once had a set of beautiful powdercoated hinges. After 2 1/2 years (3000 miles) on a garage kept truck they looked like total dog poop. The shine faded, the springs had chipped, and there was heavy wear on the moving parts. I now have the EMS hinges. They look amazing and the up/down function is super smooth. Very nice. Two years from now I'll bet they look just as good.

Re: Who makes a GOOD hood hinge??

My truck isn't a show truck neither. At least not yet. But I be damned if I paint the truck and damage is caused by the hood by the paint. I have to a lot of pride in my vehicles. If it was all rusted out, I would still be contemplating the same decision. I am not doubting his work on them sweet hinges. If it was my daily driver, I would just go with a set. But, I am going to have this truck for many years to come, so I will probably get the better set for the extra cash.

Re: Who makes a GOOD hood hinge??

Somewhat related question, How easy is it to check hinges to see if they need rebuilding? Do you just pull the springs and see if you can feel side to side slop (removed from the truck, obviously)?
