I had a set of 2.5 inch cpp spindles and they did not work with the stock rim but worked fine with a 15X8 after market rally wheel. When I switched over to the 2 inch drop modular spindle it rubbed against the balancing weights on the inside of my wheel but that was the spindle for the 77 c10 because I put a 77 cross member in my 62. I would just go with the 2.5 inch regular spindle if you front tires are 245s.

i have 2 1/2 ece dropped spindles with 2 in. spring and 8 in corvette stye rallys and they don't rub

Even if they do rub the wheel, it takes 5 minutes tops with an air sander to fix the interference. No reason to be scared of 2.5 spindles.

I think if I read in the first post, his a arms are powder coated which was why he did not want to grind on them.

Not sure when you bought your spindles but having been in the CPP machining room during their open house, their current spindles are not marked as Western and all of their finishing machining is done in house. They even have a very cool 3D plastic modeling equipment to make prototypes of parts before molds being made for casting. Very cool stuff.

Also, another thing that has come to light recently is the "old school" and "new school" spindles. The OS ones typically space out the wheel about 3/4" from the stock drums (some a little more) and can allow some stock steel 15x8 wheels clear because of moving the wheel out more BUT this can create issues with your tires rubbing the wheel lip depending on what size you run.

The NS style keeps the wheels spaced in correctly but it also moves the lip near the a arm and you're more likely going to have rubbing issues with 2.5" dropped ones versus 2" dropped ones.

There are a lot of ways things can turn out depending on wheels, tire size, spindle type, etc. There are just so many variables to be 100% sure. Good luck!

Which ones?

I am being told I can't use the 2" modulars because of my 15"ralley and I'll need bigger brakes and wheels if I use them

But I got pricing for 2" drop spindles but they aren't modular, and both are CPP spindles,
However CPP only shows 2" modular and 2.5" traditional spindles.
What gives?

Sorry for the late response Calvin66... I went out to measure and its very close to 3".. You might have to grind very little if its too tight...

This is the spindle I'm looking at from Summit. Can I use this spindle and use donor parts from a 73-87?
