Re: WTT 71-72 CPP "new" casting drop spindles

These are really nice guys. They are a much cleaner casting than the old. Also they appear to be painted metal instead of raw.

Re: WTT 71-72 CPP "new" casting drop spindles

Update guys. I looked at the actual part number on the spindles and it is CP4S4. That means that these are 73-87 spindles. Does the guys who showed interest still want to buy them knowing that? CPP strikes again

I contacted cppjeff. It's a long story but I'm sure something can be done. I didn't buy them directly from CPP per say. if not I'm sure someone will want them.

UPDATE!!! lolife you need to know this for your fact thread. ALL "New Design" spindles are cast with the CP4S4 part number in them. According to CPPJeff he said that they are cast that way then the holes for the ball joints and the tie rods are drilled for the appropriate years. SO......these are indeed 71-72 spindles!! Man what confusion.

Re: WTT 71-72 CPP "new" casting drop spindles

It is not unusual for spindles to be cast with the same part number, and then drilled for the appropriate year tie rods/ball joints. McGaugheys does the same thing and I imagine others do it as well. While it does not really make any sense, CPP is not the only company that does this.

So then that answers the question that if you buy a set from Summit you will not likely get the new design.

That's still a huge F#CK UP on CPP's part.
Out of all the numbers in the world,... that you could cast on a part,...
why would you use a "current" part number that is associated with a specific part,... like the 73-87 drop spindles.
Something like "CSC10" or "CS6087" would have made more sense.

How do they even know which spindles to put in which box at the CPP factory,... with logic like that.

At least Belltech has 3100 or 3200 or 3120 cast on theirs.
I think I will just stay away from CPP.

Yeah I was little suprised when I got off the phone with Jeff and he said the way he was able to tell was to stuff a ball joint into the hole and make sure. No offense to you Jeff, I know it's not you but CPP has got to find a better way to determine whats in their hands at the moment.
