im curious as well I compared the belltech on mine to the stock ones they seemed to be comparable material wise but always wondered if they were cast as well as the stock ones or just cleaned up well enough to look like they were

Re: Broken drop spindle

I have Summit Racings in house brand spindles...which were made by "Ground Force". I never carry a load in my truck, but I am too impatient to slow down for speed bumps, and they were bottoming like mad until i got drop shocks...no problems in two years. I would recommend them.

Re: Broken drop spindle

Chinese spindles most likely. Aim and bullett are names to avoid. There was a lot I these in the 90s. My freinds did this last year he just turned the corner and his truck dropped and he watched the wheel just roll away

Re: Broken drop spindle

I gotta agree with you guys, aim. No other markings anywhere on the spindle. I never heard of the company or the problems with them. Never thought I would have to check the brand of spindles on the truck. Lesson learned. Just glad it wasn't more expensive to me or the truck. Gotta shop around for a new pair with your recommendations. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Broken drop spindle

That sucks, but good you or no one else got hurt.... like you said, good thing it didn't happen at 65. Chances are it is AIM, but now way to tell. I had a DJM spindle break about 3 months after I sold it to some guy. It does pay to get a quality brand name.

Re: Broken drop spindle

As long as people shop strictly for the cheapest price without figuring quality into the mix, we're going to continue to see more offshore stuff being used. It's the Walmart mentality. Say you save 100 dollars on a pair of spindles by buying AIM instead of Belltech, if that cheaper spindle fails, the damage to the truck will certainly negate any savings up front.

Buy the best and cry once.

x eleventy-billion.

Sometimes it's painful when you look at how much you spend compared to the cheaper part, but when you realize you only need to replace the part every 10 years, instead of ever year if you keep buying cheap junk, it's worth it. I don't have time to be constantly replacing the same part over and over.

I can't think of any Japanese products that are poor quality.

Re: Broken drop spindle

I think it's more like parts made in china or otherwise to specs defined by a engineer or company in the US that didn't really know what they were doing are poor quality.
