Re: Jed's 49 3100
oil and water gage ran backwards so cut up the unused decal in kit to made it work right. was thinking afterwards could of switch 2wires around to make gage work backward?
1 problem with the speedo is at 50 mph it only reads 25mph on the gage think the problem is in the needle swipe jimmy gage was smaller the odometer in the speedo head is just a non working set of numbers the circuit board for the gage set is mounted under the dash with the odometer on it . can't find a pic of it |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
Having fun with the dipping tank the problems I'm having
I can't clean the parts with the pressure washer between dippings and get the loosen rust off so it stop clean having to try to dry them off and wire brush it off lots of dust then redip them the 2 problem is they are rusting as I look at it so I'm trying to coat the part with rust converter after cleaning to slow down the rust. I may wait till spring and dip again or sand blast them. it is getting what paint that is there off |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
Very innovative build here id have to say with all the rust removal techniques and interesting ways of accomplishing said tasks! Whats the solution in the tanks?
Are you planning to keep the truck a 4x4 with the blazer parts intact? If you wanted to convert it to 2wd its as simple as getting a set of 98+ 2wd blazer hubs and then pulling all the 4x4 components out back to the transfer case output. I personally like the 4x4 frame s10 swap idea since no spacers are required up front to get the proper track width on 2wd wheels. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Jed's 49 3100
the only thing in the tank is water and arm and hammer washing soda
I have made it in to a 2wd removed front diff the wheel hubs have the axle end still there to hold it together.I liked the 4x4 so it will lower the front end by backing out the 2 bolts on the T bar went down about 2" without the lowering keys.My plan is to ext the frame and put the box on this summer remove tranfer case and put a s10 long box 2pcs driveshaft in should bolt right in then I can drive it around to check that everythings ok. I built a 2wd 4l60e for it that I have put a elec speedo senser in the case for the computer and i can hook up a cable to the 49 speedo head and run it |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
update on heater fan found out that the grd wire on the motorwent to the housing too .where the yellow marks are is the bent over tabs that hold it together
you can see the spot weld at the plug on the bear wire here I broke the weld and the plug is off the housing I put some tape on the housing to insulate the plug from the housing then just put it back together and check that it work from the plug and check with the grd wire on the housing it don't work |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
Looking great Jim. I never would have thought to take the motor apart and disconnect the internal ground. I Isolated mine with a rubber washer and nylon nuts/bolts. Works well, but your method is definately cleaner!
