HUH???

For me personally with "Grundy" insurance at $125.00 per year (full coverage) and $50.00 for two annual oil changes , its worth keeping it.

Just my 2 cents...

Wow, hate to see it go. I hope you forwarded the site web address to the new owner. I remember when you drove it to Austin. Mine was parked next to yours. My was so low we could not see mine from side pictures.

Yep, that was before I dropped mine, and right after I had installed HD front springs. Everyone kept asking me if it was a 4X4!

Sucks that it came down to that. There's been a few that I regret letting go. Specifically, a '90 Mustang GT and my first square; a '79 shorty.

Both slammed; both fast; both a lot of fun.

Just saw this... always liked this truck. Tough to see it go but you made the decision you had to. There are more squares out there if you ever get a second shot at one...

Wow! hanging on to my 83 Silverado that I bought new, brought my first daughter home in it when she was born, it would kill me to sell it.

Re: Sold My Truck Today

I remember buying your bed rails off of your truck. Hope it went to a good home. Aways also liked your truck. But you now still have two sweet cars. Can not feel too sorry for you. I think you got a fair price for your truck. Are you going to say on the board? I would bet "yes".

Re: Sold My Truck Today

Well yes I understand your concern about having vehicles around that you have to buy tires and insurance for and only drive them a few miles a year.

I think I followed both of you and Swervin Ervin over here many years ago, an enjoyed reading all of your up grades to your trucks.

What I am really surprised to hear the value of your truck for the great condition you kept in.
I am in the process of trying to make a decision on upgrading my 78 Chevy, and to find out that is all they are worth for a Bi*^%en truck like yours!

That was my reasoning. I can always get another C10 and build it myself like this one, but my Dad and my FIL are gone. They won't be building any more cars, so I better hang on to theirs.

It really is difficult after you have owned a project for so long. Half of my friends tell me they can't believe I sold it. The other half tell me they are glad I sold "that old truck" so I can "buy something nice." Some get it, some don't.

I'll still be around, but probably not as much as before. I'm driving a '94 extended cab Chevy that I picked up for a good price, and looking for something newer that I won't have to work on. For the moment I read the 73-87 forums and the 88-98 forums. I don't know what the next truck will be, though. It depends on what I can find for a reasonable price with the money I got from my C10.

I went to a board get together over the weekend, and didn't have anything to park with the classic trucks. It is such a weird feeling after all this time to just be a spectator!

I doubt it. The guy who bought it was young, and told me about all of his projects he had started but never worked on any more. I'm afraid my old truck will be pulled apart for some "upgrades," and left to sit with the rest.

Swervin Ervin's truck is the one that got me into all of this. I was looking for a 73-87, and came across his website (now Jeff's awesome 73-87.com website).

It isn't just a matter of the cost of insurance and maintenance. I had a lot of money tied up in that truck that was just sitting in my barn. I could justify that when it was my daily driver, but now I need the money for another daily driver!

The truck didn't sell for a lot because of my choices on where to spend the money. I'm a very practical person. I built the truck for me, not to impress anyone else. I spent my money on making the the truck reliable and nice to drive.

The engine was a new crate motor, but stock. It had dual exhaust, but quiet turbo mufflers. It had all new suspension, a rebuilt transmission, Vintage Air, etc. However, there was no chrome, no billet wheels, and the paint was intact but marginal.

If I had instead left the old A/C in place (it worked), left the old worn suspension parts, chromed out the tired old 305, painted it red, and put billet wheels on it and a set of flowmaster mufflers, I would have had a much better return on my investment. I didn't do any of that, though, because I never planned to sell it. I didn't build it to sell, and I paid for it when I did.

I still have days I regret having let my old '80 go... I've had some nice rigs since then, but I still wish I had that big ol' 3/4 ton haha! I remember drooling over your truck when I was younger

Sorry, that may have come across wrong...I was just stating it is finally on the road...as it was taken apart so long, while everyone else was enjoying theirs.

Always loved your truck, it was perfect IMO.

No, not at all. I was just giving you a hard time!

Thanks. My truck was a nice driver, but no where near the quality of yours. The time and effort you have put into yours shows, and I'm really happy for you that it is back on the road.

... just saw this. Hate to see it go.

I remember when I was building the 87Lowrider, looking at your truck as inspiration.

Of course, the 87lowrider has been gone since last fall (somewhere in Wisconsin now). I'm building my '57 stepper now though

I am amused that you still have the same avatar after all these years too

Crazy to think I joined this board over 10 years ago now

Figured I better post up then...

I remember following the buildup of this truck and many others. It is sad to see it go, glad you are still sticking around the board.
