Sold My Truck Today
Well, I sold my '86 Silverado today. I had owned it for 12 years this month. It was the vehicle I was going to keep forever...
Since I moved out into the country, I couldn't afford to drive it into town as my daily any more, and I needed a truck that was better at towing and hauling. It was always my project vehicle, even when I was driving it daily. I have since inherited my father's little hotrod '37 Chevy coupe and my father-in-law's restored '67 RS Camaro that has been in my wife's family since the early 70s. I can't afford that many toys, and I decided the coupe and the Camaro were were too important to me to ever part with, so my C10 had to be the one to go. $%^&, I already miss my little truck. |

Re: Sold My Truck Today
It hasn't been. I took it to the New Braunfels swapmeet this morning. I sold it to a guy who was looking at it as I was pulling it into the space. He made an offer on the spot. I guess I should have asked for a little more, but it is really hard to guess what something is worth after you have had it so long and become so attached.
I just can't believe its gone. Slonaker |

Re: Sold My Truck Today
That sucks, and it's a great looking truck. Of course a 37 Chevy and a 67 Camaro are pretty cool too. Sounds like you're going from "car guy" to vintage automobile colletor.

Slonaker, sorry to hear you sold the truck, but I know how impotant the other two are...you made the right choice. You can always get another square someday if the urge is too much to resist.

Re: Sold My Truck Today
Wow, I'm shocked man! I've been using pics of your truck for years to keep me from losing sight of what mine should be. I guess everything chant last forever though. That old truck was lucky to have a guy like you for an owner. Is the new owner a member here?

Re: Sold My Truck Today
That's a bummer.......that truck was one of a handful that are still on the board from when I joined......You still gonna pipe up once in awhile? Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Re: Sold My Truck Today
You do what you have to do. I this Camaro a couple years ago. It was a beauty. Probably one of the nicest I've had but got the bug for a different car. Regret hit me not long ago when was going thru some pictures. Good thing is they made a few hundred thousand and there are still good ones out there. Same goes for these squares. You can replace it.

Re: Sold My Truck Today
I sold it for $5500. It had a 350 crate motor with 20,000 miles on it, a rebuilt TH350C with 30K on it, rebuild/dropped suspension, rebuilt column from gmtiltsteeringcolumn.com, and a Vintage Air Gen IV system plus a lot of other stuff that I had done over 12 years of ownership.
My truck was used as the prototype for creating the Vintage Air 73-87 Gen IV system (another board member's truck was the 3rd or 4th used to make sure everything fit the round headlight models...). The blue truck in the pics at the bottom of the page is mine: http://www.vintageair.com/semanpchevygmcpup.asp I thank all of you for the kind words, and for reassuring me that I did the right thing. Re: Sold My Truck Today
There sure was! It is a great swapmeet. Some friends and I go every year. It is a great way to get rid of your old stuff, and use the money you make to buy new stuff!
It ends Sunday. You have one more day to make it over there. Slonaker |

Re: Sold My Truck Today
My wife's oldest sister used to drive her around in the car when she was in elementary school, and her Dad restored the car 6 or 8 years ago. You'll have to pry the keys out of her hands. She is a redhead, and she's very fond of that car. I wish you luck. You'll need it.
I agree with both of you. The truck would look cool towing the car, but you will only see one of my cars on a trailer if it isn't drivable. How about "too many for me to maintain and insure?" The family connection to the two cars makes them irreplaceable. My wife and I have been married 23 years, and went on a few dates in the coupe before we were married. Also, I'll never have another chance to work on a car with my Dad or my FIL, but I built the truck myself, and I can do it again if the opportunity ever comes up. Quote:

I'll still be around here. I saw this sale coming, and bought a beater '94 Silverado a couple of months ago. I can't be without a pickup! That means a lot to me as well since you have had some really nice trucks. I always loved that yellow one you used to have Quote:
