What year is your engine? There was a significant hp and torque drop after 1970 and got much worse in the mid 70's.

I don't go through MTS due to the fact that I personally don't like that they talk to me like I'm an idiot. I go through Chris at Cad Company.

I guarantee you that if you get they're high performance ported and polished aluminum heads, you'll be making by far way more power.

Re: Craigslist Find. Thinking about buying it

If someone wants to buy it we can make a deal for me to pick it up for them. You can ship it from my house in Portland.

As far as I can see, he still is asking $800 with $400 in the title to probably get people's attention. He probably just wants the truck gone and somebody to pull his motor for him. Lol

Re: Craigslist Find. Thinking about buying it

Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't some of these 472/500's make 500 lb-ft of torque from the factory?

The only year that made that much torque is the 1970 engines.

Re: Craigslist Find. Thinking about buying it

I've been talking to the guy a lot. Called him again today. There is a very big story behind the truck. Not a bad story, but this guy got emotional on the phone just talking about getting rid of it. He just wants the motor because its his only memory of him and a family member. He says the landlord said there was complaints about the truck and that it needs to go in a week. He wants $800 for it, but the closer the end of the week comes, the lower the price will get. He said he hopes he doesn't have to sell it for $400, but he may just have too.

If anyone is interested. Call him up.

He also says he has a clean title in hand in his name.

Re: Craigslist Find. Thinking about buying it

If i were just in a slightly different point in my life, i would get it. $400?! Come on! I probably drop $400 a month on eating out at restraunts and stuff! To get a solid start to a truck like this for only $400 is just too good to pass up.

Re: Craigslist Find. Thinking about buying it

Just thought I'd let you guys know that he said the wheels/tires on the truck (boyds) are up for trade for 4 skinnier tires on rims so he can fit the truck onto a trailer. He said he needs 4 wheels/tires no bigger than 8 inches wide. His trailer is 7 ft 3 inches wide
