Re: headlight modification
If you have a pic-a-part yard go looking under the hoods Camaro, Buick or just about late 80s to early 90s general motors product and you can find the same standard 5 pin Bosch relays but in a weatherproof style with a weatherproof plug and the same type of mounting clips. I have seen cadillacs with as many as 4 Bosch relays on 1 single mounting bar/clip. The Bosch relays all have the same 85/86 and 87, 87a, and 30 pin outs. Some will even have a weatherproof blade type 30 amp fuse holder already wired to the relays. They even have a GM part number. So there are many ways of doing this but I would not use those relays you have there. They may work fine but everyone uses the Bosch relays so finding a replacement would be a lot easier. And cheaper
As far as the wiring on your truck relays you can use a volt/ohm meter and figure them out. You will still have a ground & B+ for the coil and then your normally open switch leg and possibley a normally closed switch as well. I would assume that and confirm with a meter. Oh yea, that odd plug you were asking about. That male plug connects to your low beam female plug (the one that connects to the back of the factory headlight) this is where the harness gets high & low beam circut to control the relays. Since this is a plug and play type harness you don't cut or splice any wires. It only needs 1 of these plugs to pick up that control circut. Your other 3 factory headlight plugs you would just tape/zip tie out of sight I guess. Long answer as usual. Sorry bout that. lol
