Re: Starting my new build

This is what I like about this site... no matter what you want to do to your truck, there is always supportive people saying "yeah, you can do it!" and other people saying "here is how".
Not like most other websites with flame wars, arguments, etc. This is the most mature of all the automotive websites I have read. (Stovebolt.com is pretty grown up too though.)

Re: Starting my new build

Hello Again:

To mechanicman;
I really thought someone would be upset with cutting the bed where I did to fit the frame. ? ? ?
Got some more pic to share.
Got the ugly rusty side metal off.
Took the time to set the bed on the frame to see what it looks like.
Still need to build the New front part of the bed.
Going to use panels i keep frome the Van i stripped for parts on this project.
Making a 3/4' frame work then covering it on both sides.
I'm really get a lot of fab time on this project.
Set about fabing the cab mounts, useing the cab mounts that I cut off the frame.
Will take some pic when I have the bed n cab off to weld up the mounts.
Set the bed on the frame to get it level an aligned.
Looking at about 1" cab to bed clearence,
I like the look of how the bed set, How I have to work on the fenders? ? ?
It looks like I'm not going to be doing much on the project for the next couple of day,
Have to see the dr tomorrow, then have to work on a 82 dodge pu,friday n sat, Have to do the gas tank, exhaust muffler, install oil pressure n water temp gauge in n under the dash, also have to repkace the heater control fan switch.
This will give me some cash to work on my project.
I have also enclode a NEW pi of the next project I have to tackle(1949 Ford 2,5 ton)
It has been setting up for like 15 yrs, the man wants to get it running n brakes working. When I get it working I'm going to drive it to coffee one morning,
It has a new style 300 6cyl in it. Will be standing on my head to work on this beast,
How the pics.

next up is the brake assy,

Re: Starting my new build

Hi Again:

It has been a few days since my last up date.
I had to take a brake from the project.
Had some WORK(paying) come into the shop.
Hope to get back on the project again later this week or first of next week.

Re: Starting my new build

Hello Again:

Want to give a shout out to "oldman3"
for the great info on the bear claw latches.

Will keep the info forlater date upgrade to the doors.

Here are some NEW pic of what has gotten done.
Got the cab bolted on totally.
Got the bed squared up n bolted down.
Got the driver seat fitted with power adjustment.
Got the pass seat set up on a van type pedestle, able to remove the whole system.
Working on the steering wheel n power brake system.
Having problem with clearence on the brake pedal n steering wheel assy.
"see pic"
Looks like I'm going to have to enlarge the hole on firewall for the steering wheel assy to get a stright shot thur the fire wall.
Sure glad the hole saw didn't work, have to move the brake pedal assy over to the trans about 4",for the pedal to clear.
Got the door hinges bolt holes tapped n cleaned out n the pass door hung.(no pic)
I think that about cover what I have gotten done this week so far.

Thanks all;
Tim
