Re: 1965 frame off progress

Not a lot accomplished this weekend. I got the disk brake brackets on. In some of my pictures you can see the new adjustable track bar. Anybody got any suggestions on the best way to get the rearend centered? What kind of tolerances are acceptable?

I usually use a ratchet strap between the frame and the opposite side trailing arm to pull the rearend as needed to get it centered.

But, you're not near there yet. You can't get a good measurement and center until the weight of the bed and everything is in place and compressing the suspension to final ride height.

Good point. I didn't consider that.

I don't know what part of NC that you are in, but I'm pretty close to Charlotte. The guy charges $200 per frame, but usually there's a few extra pieces to have done as well.

Re: 1965 frame off progress

I haven't made any progress on my truck lately. I finally got my chevelle back from the metal shop. So I have been test fitting and doing a mock up before paint. Here is a pic.

Re: 1965 frame off progress

Great work, really clean and well laid out. Couple questions:
1) Whose rear axle shafts are those, and is it 5x5 or 5x4.75 bolt pattern?
2) What disc rotor will you be using, or did you buy one of the kits?

Those are "Toms Kick Ass axles"and they're 5x5. I've got the same ones on my '65

It's 5x5 and the kit is from CPP. Thanks for the complements. I can't wait to get back on the project.

Re: 1965 frame off progress

I've been really focusing on the Chevelle this past year. I recently have started working on the bed some. I really hope to get some work done on the truck this year too. Green only goes so far these days. Here are some pictures of it:
