Re: getting ready to start a frame swap on a 58....
Looking forward to seeing your build.
I have a similar idea in mind. I plan on swapping my 55 onto an 85 1-ton corporate dually. From my initial measurements, basing everything off the front axle centerline, the core support, as well as the front and rear cab mounts are basically in the same position lengthwise on both frames. The body mount widths, however, are different. Both frames are the same width, so I plan on removing both cabs and cab mounts. Bolt the 55 mounts back on the 55 cab and lower it over the 85 frame. From the looks of it, it should sit right in position. Hopefully the core support will fall into place as well. As for the bed, I will probably lose some floor depth since I want the body as low on the frame as possible. Something like this. |
