I'm not a 100% but when you go to the parts store they should know. I do think it's a long water pump though.

Re: serpentine setup with pulleys and accessories $160.00 shipped

Darien just wanted to let you know you will need a long reverse rotation water pump,I see sunsoaked already mentioned this earlier but didn't want you to buy a standard long water pump.I am doing this on my 71 right now.
88-92 Z-28 or I think 88-95 gm pickup water pumps will work.
AC Delco part#251-725
Hope this helps Brian

Thanks, Brian. Any thoughts on where to get an inexpensive one. I am having difficulty trying to find one online that is less than $100. Are you using a setup from a later model truck? Any suggestions on getting the right belt? Scott gave a couple of suggestions, but never hurts to ask for more help.

Edited: Just noticed the part numbers at the bottom of your response. Read it too quickly. I'll check it out, but if you have any places in mind, please let me know.

Re: serpentine setup with pulleys and accessories $160.00 shipped

Darien your welcome,I just bought one of ebay a nos ac delco for $65 shipped there were a few on there a few weeks ago for $70-80.I wanted a ac delco because I am tired of the rebuilt ones leaking or pulleys not lining up.As for belt size I am going to run a procharger so mine will be a lot longer. My setup came off a 90 suburban 5.7

Thanks for the help, Brian! I would love to go with the AC-Delco, but I am kind of on a budget right now, so I think I need to go with a cheaper brand. However, getting the AC Delco part number from you has helped a lot. I found what appears to be the equivalent at Advance Auto.

I did a search on their site for a 1990 Chevrolet C1500 with a 5.7L engine. The picture looks like it matches up with the AC Delco 251-725.

AC Delco on the left. Advance Auto on the right.

Thanks for checking it out. My last post was made before I read your comment. I see it on Ebay; I might just suck it up and spend the cash on the AC Delco. The Ebay one is $75 with shipping and the AC Delco is $90 shipped.

Unless you think the aluminum one is better, for the extra $15, I might as well go with AC Delco.

Scott, thanks for sending the part number images. I found a site that listed vehicles that bracket part number is for, and found it fits a 92-94 Chevy Blazer 5.7L. I checked the vehicle at Advance Auto's site, looked up the belt, then the water pump (to make sure it gave me the same pump Brian advised on), and it's a match. So now, I know what type vehicle to search for parts on.

Thank you both for your help! I really appreciate it. This is probably the most help I have received for an item I am buying on the forum, especially considering it has not even been shipped yet.

I probably won't be buying the parts at Autozone. When I enter the 92 Blazer, they only show it with a 6 Cyl engine. Go figure. Advance Auto and Pep Boys show the 8 Cyl. Kinda surprised at Autozone.

Thanks, Brian. I'll stop being cheap, put up the bucks and get the AC Delco. Better to spend a little extra money now, than waste a ton of time later.

Darien another important piece of info you will need to know is you will need to get a reverse rotation radiator fan and clutch, stock 71 WILL NOT WORK!

I did not know that. That sucks. Well I am sure I can find a used 92 blazer fan somewhere. I also just bought a couple of electrics fans off someone on the board for $10. Worse case, I'll just use the electric fan (once I figure out the best way to mount it).

I guess I can't just install my fan backwards, huh? :-)

Glad you told me. I would have just installed the stock fan I have.

Thanks yet again.

That looks really nice. Great paint job on the engine.

Thanks for posting the pic. It helps me visualize the positioning of the various brackets. Would you mind doing me a favor and post a pic from the center and the drivers side, so I can see the alternator and PS setup?
