Re: Diesel Questions

I stated earlier this would be work truck or daily driver. The gearing is not worried about. Axle strength is what im worried about.

Re: Diesel Questions

Axles are one place where over-stregnth is good. I'm building
Mine with same intentions, only with a 600 hp gas 454. My 44 has held up fine, but i don't really do much in way of doing 4x4 burnouts or nothin.

Re: Diesel Questions

A dana 60 will bolt it in but you gotta make sure both front and rear axles have the same ratios in them.If you don't have to have the truck right now i would wait for a k30 or get a nice cucv pickup. Both have a thicker frame and the axles you want in them now.The 3/4 ton frame is a half ton frame with extra bracing. If you have to go k20 what about running a 4bt beefed up in it?

Re: Diesel Questions

I know about the 4wd gearing. Already have a 6bt sitting doing nothing. And I would like a K30 but it seems they are impossible to find around me.

Re: Diesel Questions

If you want a axle swap thats hd for the front there some old dana 70 front axles out there, or if price is no issue check out dynatrac, they can custom build a dana 70 or 60 front axle however you want, i think they even build dana 80 front axles.

Re: Diesel Questions

From what i have seen on distributor websites for there dana 60 and 44 axles it varies based on options, and there are alot of options for them. If i remember right a dana 80 with i think was 5 lugs or 6 for a jeep was around 7000.

Re: Diesel Questions

Yea, there pricey, but nice. Also if you need help finding some conversion parts i know of some sites to check out, at least for engine mounts.

Re: Diesel Questions

The ones im most likely going to go with are from www.dieselconversion.com, most of the other ones out there say you need a small lift to clear the oil pan.

Re: Diesel Questions

Fifth wheel as in camper? Or gooseneck? Single wheels can handle most campers, its goosenecks where a dually would be better, like a 35' foot and up, at least for me.
