That's why I don't buy cars at auction. You don't know what you're buying until you buy it.

Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you get burned. Sounds like you got lucky.

Not bashing or anything at all. Its just my personal experience. If you are happy with your purchase, that's all that matters.

It took a while to get there. Lots of long, flat, straight roads in the East Arkansas Delta. I certainly wouldn't have ever won any drag races, but with enough road it would get up there.

Had the 4 banger too. Mine was an EX, and my sister had an identical 4 cylinder, 5 speed coupe, but hers was an LX. The LX had a governer cutout that would shut the ignition off at about 112-113.

Someone was definitely watching over me when I was young and stupid.

I think I got lucky as well....But I did look under it....no rust and very clean...I love what I bought. But will be honest it wasn't what people were there for. I was the only bid. The hot ones in terms of SUV's were the 97-2001 4-runners. There were 6 of them. They went triple what mine did. But everyone is looking for those right now.

Re: Here is my carfax report

Even in an auction it's easy to look at the floor near seat brackets and seat belt anchors for rust or other corrosion.

A piece of paper and a magnet helps find bondo.

Flashlight and eye balls can look under the vehicle.

Anyone that gets taken by a vehicle that's been "swamped" or other catastrophe is partially to blame. What portion of the blame depends on how well the "event" was covered up by the guilty party.

People get lucky at auctions too. Something about a blind squirrel.......
