Glad you got it fixed. As Enaberif said, may want to put fresh oil in and run it a few days and change it again to be safe.

Now the real question is what caused it to stick in the first place? using unleaded alchohol ladin gas with the stock guides? did the cylinder get hot? carbon buildup in the valve stem in the port?

Crappy oil and crappy gas and letting it go without proper maintenance.

Fill her up with some req 90 , or better yet 100 low lead , and some seafoam with it , should take some of that carbon out of the engine , synthetic oil may help also "they" say sythetic is better for all engines

If it were me. For the cost of a few gaskets, I would pull that head off and do serious cleaning.
If you are apposed to that, then at least buy some SeaFoam and follow the instructions on the can for pouring into the carb. You will be surprised how well that works.

Also... WD40 is not the best thing to use. Just as the name implies; Water Displacment 40th try. All it does is displaces water, it might soak into something, but not really doing what your thinking it does.
Go with a penetrating oil.

On a old engine I wouldn't use synthetic.. I would run a good 10w40 or 15w40 oil though.

.....I'll go 'ditto' on the Seafoam treatment.
Just be sure that you have a nice open space when you fire it back up cause there will be a lot of 'burn-off' for 15-20 minutes. After that you'll notice how much it runs.

Cool deal. Glad you got it running. The reason behind the stuck valve was obvious. Seen it many many times. Be sure all the old fuel is flushed out and you should be good to go.

anytime I ever had a lifter start ticking on me, I added half a quart of atf to the oil. the detergent in the atf helps break up carbon and varnish and stopped the ticking noise, then I just did another oil/filter change. I have never used seafoam, can't vouch for it. but atf sure worked for me. I would get your fuel tank boiled out to remove any varnish/deposits that may still be in there. One note, when you see a Gasloline tanker filling up the tanks at your favorite gas station, keep driving until you get to a station where there isn't a tanker filling the tanks, reason being, once they start filling the tanks, it stirs up all the crap and debris on the bottom of their tanks, the pumps have a fuel filter on them, but I wouldn't trust that.....just my opinion.

Okay, I got the motor back together with new gas, oil, and spark plugs. It fires right up and idles pretty good now. Only issue I have now is a small pop through the exhaust about every 30 to 40 seconds. The carb works great with no stumbles or hesitations.

I'm guessing the points or wires are causing this pop through the tailpipe.
