i wish someone still had that pic of the flex fan blade sticking through the hood. that pic made me change the flex fan on my motor to a clutch fan. No more worrying about now

I don't buy this "flex fans are junk" bullcrap. MOST flex fans are junk. ALL aluminum flex fans are junk. The right flex fan is perfectly fine.

I have had cheap ($30) flex fans that grenaded, and I have had the $80 (tin or steel, I'm not sure) flex fan that lasted for 15 years and up to 5000 rpm until I dumped the battery into it. (It still lasted several months after the mangling up to 5000 rpm, and didn't grenade, but I decided that I should take it out just in case).

Bottom line is you get what you pay for. Buy aluminum or cheap, it will grenade. Buy the ones that are steel (I think) blades with a supporting blade, sandwiched in two steel hubs solidly riveted together, and you won't grenade one.

BTW, I took the remains of the good flex fan and I am currently turning it into the prop on a wind generator.
