Congrat's on the Duramax find.
Thanks AD! I did some horse-swapping and I have less than $2500 out of my pocket for the complete bus. Which I will strip and sell/scrap and make a lot of that money back.

Uh, that's probably going to be a 4l85e not an Allison behind that Duramax. It's also de-tuned a lot 250hp instead of 360hp in a pickup with the Allison. Be careful with the standalone harness, the van's run a different pinout and ECU and a truck harness will not work. The Allisons also used their own trans controller, the 4l85e is integrated into the PCM.

All is not lost though, that engine, though RPO code LLY in the van is mechanically identical to a LBZ and a EfiLive tune away from making the same power. A 4l85e also is easier to fit in an old truck, and they used them in the vans because they would fit under the flat floor where an Allison wouldn't. A 4l85e can also be built up stronger, but they will put up with a lot of abuse stock in a lighter vehicle.

It appears you are correct sir. I picked up the bus today and it did indeed have the 4L85E. I'm a little bummed, but I got a nice discount bc of it... Thanks RanchTruck!

1958Warrior. I thought the same when I first saw this thing! Everything was there, except the rear seat. I even have the original spare!

Thanks SKT! I'm a USMC veteran, so I'm really contemplating putting "U.S.M.C." on the doors in place of the US Army...
