Re: 1987 Grey GMC
That smooth tailgate looks sweet! I think I might have to look into doing that.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
Thank you. There was times throughout the process that i thought to myself "why am i doing this". But i am happy with the outcome. Actually sometimes i wonder if i should have kept the rear bumper and cut it to fit tighter. Instead of having a roll pan.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
Now after putting on the new wheels and tires i didn't like how the truck sat. I wanted the rear wheels to be tucked slightly into the wheels wells and the gap in the front between the tire and top on the wheel opening to be smaller. When i bought the truck it was already dropped. In the rear it had drop hanger but wasn't a flip kit. In the front it had dropped spindles.
So once again i contacted Travis a AZ Pro Performance for a pair of dropped springs for the front and a c notch for the rear. I ended up buying a pair of 4 inch drop leaf springs for the rear and never have put the c notch in. Now the front is almost too low, it just makes driving a little more careful. Here's a comparison picture of where it was before and how it sits now.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
Man I love your work. Killer job. I like the new stance a lot. Are you bottoming out everywhere? Side note, I know it's personal preference but I think the tail lights kill the look.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
Thank you. I have more updates, slowly catching up to speed on what I'm currently doing to the truck. Rnmatt87 it's funny you ask about bottoming out because I over the weekend I took the truck to a car show that is an hour drive for me. The truck was great never bottomed out once, and got some good compliments from people. As far as the taillights they are kind of a acquired taste. I have been keeping my eyes open for something different. I found one company that has some lights I like I just haven't pulled the trigger. I'll add the link to there site later.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
The paint came out great. That truck presents very well. I'm betting that despite its subtle color that people notice it at shows.

These are the tail lights I have looked at in the past, I just really don't like the way the brake lights go. LT7A it was fun to watch and talk to people who would look at the truck and slowly notice things that were done.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
Thank you. I can't say confidently what the original drop was. I remember when i bought it the guy said it was a 4-6 drop. The front had drop spindles and the rear had shackles and hangers. I personally think i should swap out the 2in. drop springs in the front for 1in. drop springs to have more of a level stance.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
As for my interior, i had done it once while the truck was in primer and drove it around for awhile. But slowly started to dislike how i did it and wanted to go back to a bench seat, for a more simple look. Everything was red from the start and i quickly painted all interior parts black along with new carpet, dash, and door panels from LMC. The original bench seat was taken out and sold which i regret. It was replaced with a pair of racing seats and a custom build centre console.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
Its been awhile sins i have posted so here is more updates to try and catch up to where i am now with the truck.
Like i said before i wanted to go back to a bench seat but unfortunately sold the original seat that was in it. So i decided i wanted something from the 90's gm trucks not sure what year exactly the seats were in. But wanted a seat with the arm rest build into the seat back. So i found one near by for cheap. Once i got the seat i decided it was too tall and i cut the mounts down 4 inches. Once i was happy with how the seat sat in the truck i tried my best to quiet the cabin noise. i laid down a layer of Sky High Car Audio sound deadening. Really good product and a great company i also use their speaker wire and power wire for most of the stereo instals i do. I still want to layer the inside of the door, both inner panel and outer panel.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
I've been slacking on posting, I'm currently working on other projects. But i do have pictures from previous progress. So when i got my truck it had a 383 stoker motor in it. I had always wanted to LS swap the truck, for the drivability of it after. So when the chance came to purchase a 2002 corvette Z06 that was wrote off by insurance because of an accident, i wasted no time purchasing it. The car had hit a curb and wrecked suspension parts and dented the underside of the car. i bought it and took out the motor as quick as i could. i traded the seats to my buddy who helped me with the swap. Then sold what was left of the corvette for what i initially paid for the car. So i did really well i thought.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
Has anyone made their own fender signal lights/running lights? I just finished up mine. i bought a pair of clear lights from LMC then separated them and look out the orange part then glued in LED strips. Then sanded down the raised parts, and then filled in the seam around the outside of the light. I remembered to take lots of pictures through this process.
The LED strips switch from white to amber when 12v is sent to both the white and yellow wires. After all the body work was done, i couldn't decide whether to paint them matte black to match the rest of the parts on the truck or paint them the same colour as the body. In the end i decided to go with colour matched.

Re: 1987 Grey GMC
No, this engine is a LS6 aluminum 5.7... Also when i did the LS swap i put new gauges in which are the Autometer Phantom 2, and then i added AEM wide band.
