Re: Torn Project

Whitedog76,

Cool, I have read that thread in the past. We do Atlas swaps in Landcruisers what a great motor. The 5 cylinder is our motor of choice though, it fits better in the Cruiser and has far better economy.

Re: Torn Project

I picked up a thrashed 08/09 motor a couple years ago. I bolted an AR5 to it and mounted it in the frame rails.

Upon further reflection, it became apparent that what it was going to take to make the 54 a runner again, is going to be mammoth.

So it seems like a chassis swap is the better option.

Re: Torn Project

Biggest issue we ran into was oil pan fitment on with the 6 cylinders. We actually cut the pan in half length wise flipped it a welded it back together.
We have been talking about doing an Atlas in an AD, think it would be a great combo.

Re: Torn Project

Yeah, great power out of the 5cyl and 17-20 mpg in the FJ80 Landcruiser.

Quick update.
Currently focusing on turbo piping and front fender fitment around the wide track of the C5 Corvette.
