Re: What to do with stale gas?

Here in phoenix, we have hazard collection like once every couple of months, for a few hours on a single day. The line is usually at least 45min long, if you happen to be able to make it that one time they are open. Its bullsh*t, and exactly why people dump this stuff out in the dirt.

Re: What to do with stale gas?

Tom, I fully agree with you, such limitations are silly and encourage frustration. Like that company that tried to talk me out of $300.00 (or more) for disposal, I got around that pretty easily.

I probably should have moved the gasoline into milk jugs before giving it away though.

Re: What to do with stale gas?

I looked online for a place to recycle old TVs and ame up withbest Buy. Cool, I'll take them there. They wanted $25 a piece and I said that kills it for me and took them to Good Will. Too old, so I took them to recycling at the county landfill, don't recycle them, so they went into the dump. They take computers because there is money in them. It's all about the money, not the planet that you need to have a place to spend it.

Ha! A little difference in depth. Did he buy that reason?

I don't have any trouble with oil. The landfill takes it, my local NAPA takes it, the local body shop/garage takes it, and I have a friend that has a used oil burner in his shop in the winter time.....

Just joking....I don't really do that...we have a local convenience/recycling center nearby that takes almost anything like that...

I do remember when the county would spread used oil onto the gravel roads in the summer to cut down on the dust...

Re: What to do with stale gas?

In town has a shed with a couple tanks for oil and one for coolant out front of the municipal garage. I'm sure dump fuel in there to mess the effort up.

Re: What to do with stale gas?

I put 10+ year old gas from my sitting c10 into my kohler powered craftsman riding mower. Except for the strange exhaust smell I couldn't tell the difference.

Re: What to do with stale gas?

I remember when I was a kid my Dad owned the local hardware store and he had some old chemicals he couldn't get rid of, so he put them in a 5-gallon paint can and left it at the back door. Someone dutifully stole it overnight, problem solved.

NO WAY!!!

Been there, done that. That crap is good for nothing but killing weeds, or torching a ford...

If you put it in a pump up sprayer and spray it on the foliage leaves and stems, and keep it off the ground, it will usually kill the plant and then evaporate, causing few issues. I believe in keep the soil clean also...
