That is a really good idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep in mind as the search goes on.

Thanks for the offer...but I'm looking forward to handling the build myself. And shipping might be an issue. Out of curiosity though, was it a 4 bolt? TAX listed as 2WD 1/2-1T with automatic for '70.

Ill have to get a hold of him and ask, i was always under the impression it was a 4-bolt main, and it did come out of a 70 1/2 ton , it was an Oklahoma truck born in the Fremont factory and it mades its way to Canada in 2009

Re: WTB: 1970 4-bolt 350 long block

I don't know what the rules were for 2 vs 4 bolt mains. And as with all these things I'm sure there were exceptions or aberrations. What I am assuming (based on anecdote) is that all 3/4T and up were 4 bolt mains. I would tend to think that K trucks would be 4 bolt as well...but again...I don't know it.

Regardless, my hope is to find a 4-bolt version for my project.

Still on the hunt. Thought I was very close on a couple, but unfortunately they didn't check out. Looking at C/K20s, C30s, C40s and C50s as potential donors.

Re: WTB: 1970 4-bolt 350 long block

Here's one in Kansas. I messaged the owner, he says it's a 1970. It's in a C50 grain truck, so you're getting the manual transmission fan blades, a two barrel intake, and 2wd exhaust manifolds. I haven't been able to find a way to reliably determine whether they're a two bolt main or a four bolt main without pulling the oil pan. I'd be happy to help get it crated and shipped if you wanted to pursue it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...rral_code=null

Re: WTB: 1970 4-bolt 350 long block

I have a 1970 350 four bolt main in my SWB, I ran the numbers and it came out of a 3/4 ton. It is presently in my truck and running, I was gonna pull it next spring and install a crate engine.

I will have to check/locate the date codes again and see if it lines up with those months, when I ran the numbers a couple years ago out of curiosity I promptly forgot them.

I shipped an engine from Nebraska last month, its not that expensive really.

Thanks for the heads up! I have been through the whole country (I thought) but hadn't seen that one. I'm going to message him now. You are very kind to offer help to get it shipped...if it turns out, I may indeed call on you. Finally I expect a C 50 to be a 4-bolt.

Kansas 350 is gone. Oh well....I'll assume it was the wrong date. Onward.

The TAX suffix means that it is either a 1970 or a 1972. It was built on June 16th. To confirm the year, look on the back, driver's side, there will be a casting number that is either F162 or F160. If it is F160, then it's a 1970.

Try this guy I found using searchtempest.com .

He builds and sells small blocks but also sells short blocks and parts .

https://wilmington.craigslist.org/pt...352982320.html

Also there are a few used parts dealers in the Murfeesboro area that are scrapping trucks . I'm still looking but this is crazy 350 4 bolts used to be everywhere .

Please keep me in mind when you pull it. I will post in this thread if I find one in the meantime. Thanks for being willing to help.

According the database that I use for decoding these suffixes though, TRJ is a '72 code. Maybe a misread if not an engine swap?

Not a misread. I knew the engine in my truck was not original per the guy I bought the truck from but I wasn’t sure if the year. Anyway it will be available if you can use it.

Thanks for thinking of me...but I've been in touch with him a couple of times (not just about the motor). He's always very helpful. We ran the numbers and what he had didn't match up.

I think I may have found a match this evening in TN. If nothing changes, heading up there on Sunday. Numbers check out and looks the part. Hopefully no defects or fouled internals. But I'm not calling it good until I've got it in hand and apart. I'll post here once I know for sure. Fingers crossed.
