WTB: 1970 4-bolt 350 long block

OK guys...I'm going on a bit of a fishing expedition for a reasonably correct replacement engine for my 1970 K20 built in June of '70.

Baseline Goals

1) 1970 350 4-bolt mains (with correct heads) engine casting 3970010
2) Build date casting between Jan-May 1970 (AXX0-EXX0)
3) Buildable engine (no known cracks, over bore, etc)

Bonus (not required)

4) Suffix stamp TAY
5) Within driving distance
6) Complete engine with brackets/fan

No real expectations here. And cost/shipping will be a consideration. But after a bit of searching...figured it can't hurt to ask.

Thanks,

Brad

Brad,

Facebook Marketplace is where everything is sold now instead of Craigslist...

I just picked up a date coded motor for a 67 project...

I searched auto parts and autos.....

was even looking to buy a complete junk car to get a dated motor.

Good luck with your search.

Stuart

Thanks Stuart...I have been on there (and will continue to be). Some close ones, but no cigar yet. Thought it couldn't hurt to throw it out to the group...

Thanks Dwayne. Just out of curiosity...have you pulled the pan? Is it a four bolt?

Edited to remove a stupid question. Obviously it was put together on Feb 17, 1971.

Very nice. Much prettier than my requirement...but price tag sounds good. Thanks for looking.

I can pull the pan if you decide your interested in a 71. I remember Eric looking for a 70 block for a blazer a few years back and believe he had trouble finding one.

Well...that's the issue. I don't expect it to be easy. If yours is a complete/solid 4 bolt...it wouldn't be date code correct, but let's face it, it's the same. And only a few months newer than my truck.

I'm going to keep looking. But if you had a moment in the coming weeks when you were inclined to pull the pan...and it was a 4 bolt...it wouldn't be a bad fall back position at all from my point of view.

OK, I'm up against it, trying to get a Jimmy ready for truck Carlisle which is the first weekend in August. If you don't find anything by then, I'll pull it and see what's under there. It has flywheel to water pump has a pulley but no fan. Carb to oil pan but no air cleaner or spacer. Distributor, coil and exhaust manifolds all that's there.

Definitely no rush Bud. Let it sit...I'll keep looking. If I'm still at zilch in a month or two and your hands are already greasy one day...and then if you don't mind cracking it, I'd appreciate it.

Best of luck on the Jimmy.

I think I have one or two in the shop. One out and one in a 70 Blazer. Both complete. Located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Thanks Troy. But I read that as K0331CPA. Which translates into:

K: Ontario built
0331: March 31st
CPA: '76 X and F body or '80 G body cars

So I'd pass on that one. But still interested in the other if it matches up.

Out of curiosity, not that I'm looking to get rid of it, but I looked at my stamp on my new rebuild that is on the stand waiting to drop in. Sort of felt bad for you though as it seems to match. It's the original motor for my truck. So, they're still out there.

Other block I have was not what you were looking for.

Well I am a bit jealous, but don't feel bad for me. Lotta really nice folks on this board have kicked a few bushes on my behalf and wouldn't you know it, some potential solutions have popped up. Just waiting to see which one pans out. I'm pretty confident one of them will.

Have you thought about buying an old C50 grain truck with a 350? They never got driven more than a few hundred miles a year, most of them are completely original. Around here they sell for about $1000.https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...d-0fe686c0c504
