You know, that o-ring idea is actually pretty slick. If you put two of those on each gauge and snug 'em up, they're not going to move anytime soon. I like his dash quite a bit. I would like to see a close-up of the milled letters, but I can see one of these on my "to do" list.

Hello guys,my name is Javier Sanchez.
I listed the dash on E-Bay
I own J & J Engineering in Arcadia CA, approximately 25 miles from Brothers Trucks.My customers range from our Department of Defense to B & M Racing.I build my own hotrods (as John Force would say) as a hobby.While building my 69 CST 396 truck,I had a choice of spending $500 restoring my factory dash or build my own with modern gauges.I built my own....I had so many compliments that I decided to market them.I approached Brothers about stocking them since I was buying so many restoration parts from them.You guys know the rest.
I took my OEM plastic bezel and sat down with one bourbon,one scotch,and one beer(you know what I mean) and using my engineering skills,calculated necessary dimensions to produce this
dash.

By Brothers OWN ADMISSION,they "used ideas from each"
to come up with their own--without lifting a ruler,caliper, or any other measuring device.
To the guy that wrote "TOUGH CRAP",obviously hasn't had someone claim his work for theirs.

I'm in the engineering business, Brothers sells parts.
That simple.
You guys decide for your selves.

Enough of that !

This dash fit my truck and the many others whose owners bought them for without any modifications to sheetmetal or dash.

If you've seen the pictures on E-Bay, I place o-rings between gauge and aluminum retaining plate. This eliminates any wear that might occur with vibrations and provides a nice cushion or gasket between two metals.
How anybody can confuse a "rubber band" with an o-ring is unbelievable.

I considered using 1/2(.500)" thick plate instead of 5/8(.625)" to
save money, but I figured nothing is too good for MY truck,so I used 5/8(.625)" plate even though it is more expensive.
Yes it's heavier, but what the heck,better traction. Right !

By the way, by using 1/2(.500)" any manufacturer saves money not supplying matching billet headlight and wiper bezels, which are included with my dash.

I was bitter at first, but hey, everything has a happy ending.

What do you mean "who am I going to by from".
If you are referring to mine or other supplier,
mine is $70 less and is a far superior product.

I'm more of a mechanical goon than a literary goon so I might not have made it clear, I'm the same guy that listed dash bezel on e-bay.

I don't offer polished ones because even though they look great from the polisher, with so much surface area, all you have to do is look at it and it gets scratched.
Anodizing might help but I'd rather not.
You could find a polisher in your area if you would like.

My hats off to you for coming on board and giving us your point.

I think your dash is one of the cleanest of the aftermarkets I have seen.

Whether you leant one to Brothers or Sold one to them, Isn't the real issue. the issue is "if" they ripped you off. as you noted they themselves stated they took ( I read it as stole) Ideas from yours combining with others.. Yes this is absolutely legal, all you need is a 10% difference and you're clear..
I also noticed Steve did not post pictures of the "Improper fit" he claims the one of yours has. Did he return it to you and let you know it didn't fit ? I also believe if it were to have been mis-fitted, you would have gladly redone the tooling to alleviate that problem, as you were subjecting a project for test , to their company for resale purposes.
You didn't patent it,,,,, Shame on you !!

Let's move on.

You guys know what's going on.

As far as patents go, I applied for a patent exactly a year ago
and have spent $8000 so far on a non-automotive application.
I don't expect an answer for at least 6 more months.

I only have a few glove box doors for $180.00
I only made them because my friend INSISTED on one.
The front is completely flat and smooth.
If I ask for 5 design suggestions for the front,I'll get 5 different
cool ones.
So that's why I left them smooth.

I think the inserts available for $30 from other venders are nice enough.
If you visit my crude web site from time to time,I'll be posting some pictures.
