Thumbs up Talk about a nice dash bezel!!!

The detail on this thing is nice!!! They even engraved the letters for the wipers and headlights. Here is the link.

Do you think he would slander another business in public print that way if it was completely false? Just because it's against a vendor like Brothers doesn't mean it isn't true.

Some people aren't too bright especially when PO'd. The seller states:

Quote:
...I SUBMITTED THIS DESIGN TO "BROTHERS TRUCKS" IN CORONA, CALIFORNIA ONLY TO FIND OUT AFTER I GRACIOUSLY LEFT THEM A COMPLETE DASH ASSEMBLY -BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE GOING TO INCLUDE IT IN THEIR NEW CATALOG...
Looks like Brothers followed through on that promise!

I wonder what Steve@brothers has to say. There are 2 sides to every story.

eBay works. I'm currently looking for some tow hooks for my Bronco. I think they pulled this item. Probably after someone at Brothers complained.

Edited to add that I'm wrong. eBay isn't working.

BROTHERS Side...

There are at least 3 other manufaturers' making a billet dash for our 1967-72 trucks. All of them look very similar due to the shape of the original bezel. I will admit that we looked at ALL of the billet units that are available and used ideas from each as well as including some of our own ideas and R&D that makes the bezel more attractive and usable. We definately did not make a rip off of his bezel.

Just to counter some of his claims:

1) His original bezel did not have any ball mills in it, it was completely smooth. We wanted ball mills in ours to match the 47-66 billet bezels we already make. However, I do like the ARC style mills he has in this NEW design.

2) He SOLD us the piece he claims he "graciously left". John, our sales manager, did the initial install and R&D in his own '69 Step Side to check the fit and function.

3) Fit, his didn't fit. I don't know, it may now, but it didn't then. The recesses where the headlight and wiper switches are were too shallow on the back of the bezel and wouldn't allow the bezel to completely sit flat on the dash.

4) Additionally, and this may still be true of his current offering, his gauges required rubber bands around them to keep them from spinning around once they were mounted in the dash face. Our billet dash uses our own design that we use on our 47-66 billet dashes to hold the gauges in. BROTHERS design eliminates the need for rubber bands to keep the gauges tight.

5) There is additional stuff I could point out, but I'll end my reply to his claims with this. Our dash is only 1/2" thick and his is 5/8".

Once again, I appreciate this forum for offering the chance for everyone to deliberate issues like this. I also appreciate the board members objective stance on this. As CPNE mentioned, there are 2 sides to every story. I really am not interested in a pissing match over this product with any other manufaturers'. Each of us makes what we thinks looks good and works right. Personally, I think his new piece looks pretty nice and I hope he has sorted out the problems we experienced with the unit he sold us.

Thanks for bringing this thread to my attention. I've been out of the office for about a week and will be out for at least one more. I do check my email daily, so if you guys have any questions or comments for me directly then email me. I will continue to monitor this thread during the next few days to see how, or if, it developes. Thanks again!

hey one you guys ought to be ginnuie pig and buy this dash to see if it fits good and report back I think that arc shape milling around the gauges looks great. The straight milling on the other billet dashes was not doing anything for me.

I agree it is a great looking piece of gear!! I especially like the arc milling. Kudos to Brothers for coming on this forum and openly discussing this. Brothers, you just won some business from me (if I ever get any money again LOL). Maybe brothers and this gentleman can go the table and rediscuss these issues and misunderstandings, and hopefully everyone can walk away a winner. Or do I live on Fantasy Island?

That is a sweet dash! I have to get one.

I'm not going to comment on the battle over who made it, Im curious why there is such a price difference. I would hope the guy on Ebay has fixed any design flaws. A $60 difference is quite steep. Even if it needs a little tweaking to get it fitting properly, that seems worth it to me. I'll hold out and watch the reviews he gets as they start selling.

I am not a frequent user of e-bay and I am not familiar with their
rules.I will respond soon with an educated and well thought
reply to this thread. Please be patient,I'm just a gearhead like all
