67 CST Review Mirror Question

Just picked up a pretty original and complete 67 CST and the rear view mirror is puzzling me as I have never seen this arm before with a truck, but I have never dealt with alot of the 1 year only stuff on a 67. Is this something 67's had or is this a mirror someone added at some point?

Re: 67 CST Review Mirror Question

Looks correct to me. Remember the mirror was still an option in 67. Not sure if it was part of the CST option however.

On the cst correct ? My 68 had no mirror or holes where a mirror had been . My other 68 is a custom and again no holes or mirror . Someone did put a later glue on rear view mirror at some point

Re: 67 CST Review Mirror Question

Both of the plain Jane 67 Chevy trucks we have, have the same mirror bracket your showing. I thought there was also a chrome mirror bracket package or option with the CST. My sons 67 GMC 1 ton dump truck, plian Jane, has no mirror no mount holes or dimples for that matter. There are dimples to place the screws for the optional passenger sun visor.

A dump truck would have left the factory as a cab & chassis therfore no inside mirror. My comments are only in regards to pickup trucks.

My 67 C20 left the factory as a cab and chassis. No rear view mirror or passenger side visor. Only dimples in the roof where they would have drilled a hole to mount them.

This seems to corroborate what 67 TWINS was saying.

Re: 67 CST Review Mirror Question

So it appears from the information in this thread that the mirror in my 67 Burban isn't a factory mirror. Any idea what it's out of?

One possibility that hasn't been mentioned for trucks without a inside mirror is that it is possible that a truck could have been ordered with the mirror shipped for dealer installation. Maybe for owners who were planning on installing a camper. I've seen cases like that on other GM vehicles. If so that would only show up on the dealers paperwork not the SPID.

If the mirror has Guide stamped in the metal it is real. Sure looks legit.

This is a really interesting topic.

I can't recall ever seeing one of our trucks without a rearview mirror in it. Of course, mine are all from Oshawa. Perhaps the "Mandatory Canadian Equipment" on the SPID isn't just a block heater, after all..

Even states here have different rules . Back in the day Studebaker couldn’t ship Avanti’s into NY with factory stock glass pack mufflers and you couldn’t get sidepipes on Corvettes or the AMX because NY law didn’t allow glass packs or exhaust the exited before the rear wheels . Dealers used to install them after the car was sold . Both laws are still on the books here .

I have seen that style quite often in 68 models.

Those are a carryover from the earlier trucks. (before '67, and at least back to '64)

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...ar+view+mirror

My unmolested '68 CST/Custom Camper truck had one like that.

Re: 67 CST Review Mirror Question

Long time lurker...now a new member with a 67 K10 CST. My truck is missing the mirror, but there is an outline of a mirror having been mounted and the triangle hole pattern is on 2" centers. The outline and the holes both match the 3768785/988173 mirror that was used on 60-66 trucks. There's even some residual black on the outline and I believe these mirror brackets also came in black.

Whether or not it was factory or dealer installed...or black, I guess I'll never know.

There is no mention of a mirror on my SPID.

After spending too much time on GMPartsWiki it appears that mirror bracket 988173 was removed in 10/67. The screws (part #565842) for the 3768785/988173 bracket were used from 60-67.

Has anyone here ever seen a black one mounted in a truck?

Thanks!
