Re: mylow53 build
Looks great... IMO I think the door panels need a little more detail to go with the flow of the rest of the interior.... Pull the red piping in to them and add a little detail... Please know I love everything about the truck and I am not knocking it but I think the door panels just look a little bland...

Re: mylow53 build
I was thinking the same thing, maybe a horizontal line of ribs below the handles to match the seat (5-6) with the red stitching around the edges and a double row of stitching about 8" up from the bottom. That doesn't look like a 2k door panel to me.

Re: mylow53 build
Greg-
Did you make the speaker pods for the kick panels? If not where did you buy them? I like the way they look. What size speaker will they hold? Thanks Marc |

Re: mylow53 build
well thankfully the door panels didn't cost 2k. they were a last minute add. when i take the truck in to have the " EXPERTS" work on it be it exhaust / paint /upholstery. i make sure they know i am trusting their judgment and follow their advise. short of this minor point i haven't been disappointed with their advise. i can see why he did the doors in a simple manor when the door is shut the panel really doesn't distract from the mostly stock interior. i would agree with you orrie i want more on that door panel. so ill eventually try to get something there...
marc yes i did make those but i cheated a bit. as i said earlier i purchased the kick panels from brothers and to my complete suprize they didn't fit. so i cut the speaker part out and glued and screwed them to a couple of pieces of wood i had. the top shop carpeted then and wa la speakers!!!! took about 2 hours to mount the speakers... thanks guys for the comments! Re: mylow53 build
thanks guys i drove it to work today. so if your near hollywood look for me on the 101 around 7pm. i told you guys i would try to wear this thing out... I still get the looks and lots of engine revs... on the other hand i may take pch thru Malibu...
interesting thing happen the other day. i was using all that the chevy man put in that engine. when the tranny shifted to second at 30 mph or so she started drifting sideways. scared me plenty i had my 6 year old next to me and i really wasn't ready to learn how to drift this short wheel base truck.... i let go of the go peddle and decided not to try that anytime soon.... Re: mylow53 build
The official color is a Toyota red. Thou I usually tell people it's a farari red. It is simply the brightest red I could get sprayed on it. Usually photgraphs can't deal with the red and dislay it in correctly.

Re: mylow53 build
thanks "1950gmc" well i've been driving it more than fixing it so the updates are pretty minor. i did put in 2 new dipsticks. thought it was a bit trivial to post. but i did learn a valuable lesson. don't pull the tranz dipstick with out a oil pan underneath... i emptied my tranz for the second time by accident!!!. in the end i put in 2 locar braded dipsticks..
for the most part thou i'm just enjoying the truck.i try to drive it to my work in hollywood once a week usually on fridays. it seems to have more power these days i guess the drive train is broken in. if you put your foot in it. it will light up both rear tires without using any brakes... I had a guy in a 90 k land rover talk to me on the 101 (in studio city, ca.) doing 70. he yelled to me what my phone number was, so i told him. he then called me on my cell to ask me who built my truck! i told him i did so he asked me if i could do his ford! i laughed at that... then gave him the number of my painter. it really sounded like he wanted me to start tomorrow! Crazy!!!

Re: mylow53 build
What cha doing talking on cell phones while driving you know that's against the law in Cali.lol It just might give the cops a reason to pull you over and talk about your truck.lol It happen to me once when I was driving the 55 210. A cop pulled me over and I was like what did I do officer. He said nothing I just wanted to see your ride.lol He started telling me about how he had a 68 Firebird that need work. He is a buddy on mine today.lol

Re: mylow53 build
alright it took 3 tries but now the drivers door doesn't need to be repeatedly slammed to get it to latch!!!. i've been driving it with out weather stripping to get the door to shut, and i finally figured out why it was having issues. the bottom of the door was impacting the bottom of the rocker. i used a piece of paper to figure that out. then the cheep chinese re-pop latch (the part on the door the "claw") was loose. i welded in the latch and bent the metal out of the way of the rocker. i bit of lube on the "claw" and click.... I'm pretty happy it worked finally....
while i was dealing with my issues i had the boy polishing the rims on my dodge. i payed him 25 bucks a rim, i think he's pretty good at this...

I have the same issue with my doors. I am using door seals. They are hard to close. My feer is that I have shaved door handles, and I think in there current state the Solenoid will bind. I am hoping that keeping the doors closed over this COLD!! MI winter will take some of the memory out the seals. A man can hope can't he. Marc |

Cajun-
My doors are tight. I physically have to push them in slightly before trying the unlatch them. I know that won't work when I am relying on the solenoids. We shall see. Marc |

Re: mylow53 build
marc i used this to seal the doors the one on the right it's thin enough to fit in and still seals. it has a sticker on the back, so no need for glue
