Thanks Anthony, in one of my past posts I mentioned that I decided to adapt the front mount to the new crossmember after all since it would be a lot less work than building side mounts from scratch. Now all I need to do is track down a rubber motor mount as mine has a large chunk missing and they are not reproduced. I'm actually in the kootney's right now and I have a couple leads on some

While on my ten day fishing trip I picked up this wilwood 3/4" clutch master cylinder, this is the same one that captainfab uses for his kit

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

While passing through the middle of nowhere in northern B.C. I was able to track down and purchase a 60-62 v8 Bellhousing with the v8 horseshoe and other stuff for $75, this is just in case I ever decide to go with a v8 in the future, since these Bellhousings are hard to find and it was a good deal I couldn't pass it up. Oh and I have been searching while on the road but still haven't found a motor mount

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

I've been pretty busy and lacking in updates recently but this weekend I decided to take advantage of the picknpull half priced sale. I got a set of springs from a half ton to cut down one coil ( my donor 78 had 3/4 ton springs), and a 8" brake booster from a s10, this is because my bigger booster from the 78 wouldn't fit in the engine bay with the oilbath aircleaner.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Got all the holes drilled in the side of the frame for the crossmember, the ones with bolts sitting in them are the ones that will be used, the rest now serve no purpose. now all I need to do is the bottom ones

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Also made a template out of cart board to mock up my booster and clutch master so I can build a bracket. They both mount in the same location as captainfab's old bracket except mine will mount flush and bolt into the firewall since I need as much room as possible to fit the oil bath air cleaner

Your truck is coming along great! Before long you will have it done and driving! Irefully like that you are doing it yourself.

Thanks man, I'm really trying to make progress but it can be hard with school and work, and of course I know what it's like to be on a tight budget. Keep on plugging away at it and you'll be done eventually

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

last night I made a template for the booster and clutch master and brought it in to shop class today to make it. I used 10 guage cut on the plasma cutter and cleaned it up with the grinder. This is uses the exact same dimensions as captainfab's bracket except it doesn't push it outwards as I need as much room as possible to clear the oilbath aircleaner. I still will need to drill the holes in the firewall for the booster but the hole point in this bracket is to reinforce the area where the clutch master goes since it is only 18 gauge and a lot of pressure will be on it while pushing in the clutch
