Re: "Rice Rocket'

Nice progress....looks like good unclean fun in the mud.... So you're going to get the new engine in and drive it until you find a cab to eventually swap? Going to close off the cab corners?

Re: "Rice Rocket'

haha

Yeah a lil, I degreased and wire wheeled a whole box of bolts/brackets last nite, ive got abunch soaking in purple power now. Tomorow im giong to DG to pick up 6-7 cans of oven cleaner, gonna try that and high pressure garden hose along with a scraper, then try to get some paint down. Valve covers are in the mail I need to get my centerbolt vavle cover bolts from autozone, bought my new front shocks/pilot bearing yesterday.

Ive been busy, yesterday I went to murfreesboro wtih my gf to buy her car. And only got to play in the shop for about an hour. Today I cleaned my old alum. valve covers so they can sit on the shelf waiting for a CL buyer. No pics but hopefully i'll be drivin 1st day of school LOL

What size carb I need yall think? Healthy vtec 355.

LOL, I left varsol in them to try and break it down some so the bags were a little cornfusing I guess. I hope it didn't leak much. They actually look good now. I could see rocker indentions in that crud when I pulled them off the shelf.
A 600 carb is probably about perfect for what you have but running the 500 for now is fine. You probably wont notice much difference.

Well 500cfm is undersized, but you are choking it with no headers for now so your not giving up anything. When you get headers switch to a bigger carb. Get headers with thick 3/8 flanges they are worth the extra $ to avoid changing gaskets constantly.

The PVC is on the same side as the oil fill. Sorry I didn't think about the other side. They are off a LT1 the breather is in the intake. I would stick a breather in it. just put some kind of baffle under it. I think some aftermarket breathers are already baffled so there is a clear shot to fill oil. If you don't think you can make it work let me know I'll send you the welded one. that has a hole in it and it's clean lol.

Here is what you need it keeps oil from splashing up in the breather.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-68775/
Then get a breather to fit it like this.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-141-754/

These are examples your local parts store should be able to get them.

Drill a hole in the cover (there is a flat spot already there) and install the breather. You still want to hook up the PVC on the other cover.
What happens is air comes in through the breather circulates through the crank case and the PVC pulls it out the other side and back into the base of the carb with engine vacuum. It is to keep pressure from building in the crank case and blowing out the seals. I'm tired hope that made sense?
