Re: Dumptruck Dolly

I love it that I have garage space again, now that I can move Dolly in and out for work. Next up is exhaust and front bumper. Then a fine tuning of systems. I’ve got a way to go, but feeling good. Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

Re: Dumptruck Dolly

The snow is retreating, finally. I made time to work on the bench seat. Found these authentic south of the border blankets online, and wrapped ‘em around each section. I like it!

Re: Dumptruck Dolly

Hey great job on your build. I just purchased a C30 and am going to fabricate a custom dump bed for it but I am going the opposite direction. This will be a slammed 30, but I like many of the details of your truck, and will be checking back during my build.

I like the seat covers. I'm craving tacos now.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly

One thing I have wondered about dump trucks and their mechanisms is the geometry of them. Some are scissor like your version and some are just a straight push with no scissor action. Is the scissor for better ratio? Or is it to compress the space needed for the hydraulics? The non scissor type seem to need longer rams and a bigger reservoir. For instance your roll back seems to be a straight push and Dolly has a scissor.

Good question…I never thought about it during the purchase of either this dump box or the rollback…I purchased them because “they were available”. For the rollback, it makes sense to me for the straight push because of the coupled motion that can happen with the elevation pistons and the lengthening piston. The scissor sure is balanced on Dolly and it elevates to near 80 degrees! My white C50 dumptruck is a multilevel straight piston to get its height.

Thanks for looking in on the project!

Re: Dumptruck Dolly

Back at it! Changed high hump tunnel cover for the 4wd shift lever, did a little seam sealer, and prepped the new rubber floor for cutting.

New shifter boots and door sill plates to go with the new rubber flooring. 👍

Thanks…the colors work pretty well adding some vibrance to the worn look of Dolly’s paint.
